to stay here you must be able to climb stairs. it is based on a 14th century inn plus 3 cottages and is built into a hill. I've never seen so many steps and stairs. the first room was small, plainly furnished but had 3 steps up into the bathroom! we got another room for the second and third nights... More

We stayed in one of the less expensive rooms in the row of converted cottages on the hillside above the pub. I was a little wary, given that some other rooms cost an awful lot more than we were paying, but in fact our room was a reasonable size, well equipped and comfortable. In the evening we had pleasant meal... More

Found this olde worlde pub/hotel on the internet and wondered if it was going to be as good as it looked. We were not disappointed. We booked for 3 nights. Our first night was in room 5, a garden cottage room with french doors into the garden. We had to have a ground floor bedroom because we took our dog... More

We arrived at 6 pm and was very lucky to get a table. Busy with locals and tourists like us. Food orders were being taken at 630 pm. The, we assume the overseer was kind enough to liaise with the kitchen staff re my gluten free diet. I am pleased to say there were plenty of options, they couldn't be... More

What a discovery! We booked one of the cheaper rooms, which was very clean, spacious, comfortable and nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious and dinner was of high quality -restaurant food, rather than pub food, but at very reasonable prices. Branscombe is a beautiful village and the Masons' Arms is walking distance from the beach. All in all, great value for... More

Booked one of the smaller cheaper rooms for 4 nights. The room although small had everything you would need. Complimentary tea, coffee, biscuits and bottled water. Hairdryer and plenty of hangers and extra cover and pillows if needed. All the usual items that you would require in the bathroom. The only thing we were not too pleased about was the... More

Booked in for 3 nights as we were wanting to do walking on South west coast path. When booking we noted check in time was from 15.00 so we e-mailed to ask if we could arrive early , leave our car in car park, do our walk to Seaton and back and then check-in. E-mail from pub came back quickly... More

We decided to stay at the Masons Arms en route to visit family in Devon. Despite not knowing much about the hotel and the fact that all local B&Bs seemed to be booked up, we booked our Brandscombe stay at the Masons Arms. On telling friends and family, the Mason's Arms was well known as a little gem in Brandscombe,... More

Having stayed at the Masons several times previously and felt it to be an excellent experience (the last being in 2010) I felt compelled to write this review as the standards of the hotel had dropped severely since our previous visit. With 5 children, we do not get the opportunity to get away so such trips are coverted. This combounds... More

We stayed in a top price 4 poster room in the row of cottages and were pleased with the room, and the location is beautiful. The pub is fine, but the restaurant itself and the food was a little below the standard we would have hoped for.
