Visited the Masons on Friday 2-March for an early evening drink. My wife and I sat at a table in the bar area, timeline circa 6.15pm. A little while later a waitress appeared and asked if it was ok to put a 'Reserved' sign on the table - advising us that the table was booked for dining from 7.30. We... More

I am really sorry that you have had such a negative experience on your recent visit. On speaking with the Manager he explained that there was some confusion with regards to the table reservation. I believe that they refunded your drinks to try to compensate for the inconvenience. We take on board all customer feedback and will strive to improve... More

We were a party of 8 staying just the one night and what fun we had! The staff could not have been friendlier and nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are comfortable, and the food in the restaurant is outstanding. The breakfast the next morning was one of the best I have eaten in a long time. We will be... More

We visited this pub last autumn after reading rave reviews - a very long drive, but we hoped it would be worth it. We arrived just a few minutes after the time for ordering hot food and there was no flexibility about that. Fair enough - our fault for getting a bit lost on the country lanes. After a long... More

A lovely spacious room with wonderful views of the delightful Devon countryside. We had windows on three sides of our very large room. Patio spaces for sitting in charming garden. A wonderful pub/restaurant on sight with loads of cozy charm. Great location for walking Devon coastline. More

Beautiful location, very friendly and helpful staff. Dinner on both nights were excellent, I ordered steak on the first night which was first rate and the haunch was divine. Breakfast first morning was very ropey, the bacon looked grey and tasted worse. The tomatoes smelt of fish! Second day was absolutely fine. The room we stayed in (15) was huge... More

We stayed in the Mason's Arms as a halfway stop on our weekend walk from Budleigh to Lyme Regis. The village of Branscombe is extremely pretty and the pub is exactly what you would expect - bags of rural charm and extremely welcoming. We were initially given Cottage 1 - this is one of the rooms in the row of... More

Stayed for 2 nights in a cottage suite. Room was really lovely, location perfect, food very good, bar, atmospheric and cosy - beer excellent! A small problem with the drains was sorted out with commendable speed! Staff great, particuarly Helen, who was brilliant. Small criticism is the bedding - hollofill duvet and (very uncomfortable) pillows. Nevertheless, definitely worth staying -... More

This gastro pub/hotel has very helpful staff. The food was good. The room was very small but adequate and the bathroom clean and modern. The Branscombe beach is a 5-10 minute walk away. Annexe rooms were shut but may be larger.. The Masons Arms is near the road so rooms facing the street could be noisier though it is only a... More

At about £1,000 for 2 for a 4-day Christmas package (1 dinner, 3 gala dinners, 1 buffet supper and 4 B&B), this was not a cheap option, but the food was excellent, the staff delightful and the setting was lovely with some good strenuous walks to help off-set the excesses of Christmas. The one disappointment was that for Christmas lunch,... More
