Hotel Ave del Paraiso is next door to the University of San Jose with easy access to the downtown and surrounding area. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and while we were there during a "slow time" of the year, staff were happy to provide us with a free traditional Costa Rica breakfast.

This was actually a pretty nice place considering the room cost 33,000 colones, which is about $65. Not only for university visitors. At the University gate and close to the main ring road along San Jose and San Pedro with easy access by car. Nice room, friendly and competent staff. Flat-screen tv, fridge and clean bathroom with hot water do not come usually in Costa Rica at this price.

Very clean hotel, good service and breakfast. Best value for hotels close to UCR. Recommend choosing a superior room....well worth the difference in price.

Nice, well decorated hotel close to the San Jose University and Barrio Escalante. The hotel rooms are spacious and clean. A/C, bathroom, tv included. Hotel serves breakfast, if you want more to eat you can go to the Crakovia cafe which serves excellent cheesecake and other meals.

Whenever we stay there we enjoy the service and full breakfast. It is an oasis in the busy part of San Jose, great location for getting around the city and right at the gates of the University. They also run a cool little Cafe Krakovia, good coffee, pastries, sandwiches, a bit of a student hangout. All in All first rate
