Perfect location right in the middle of historic Puebla, a block from the zocalo but on a pedestrian only paseo, friendly and helpful staff, reasonably priced, charming colonial ambiance in historical building. For these characteristics and more, the Colonial may be my favorite hotel in Mexico, certainly of those located in the larger cities. My very spacious room had a... More

We were in Puebla for a two day stay and had booked this hotel based on trip advisor recommendations. We had no complaints. The staff spoke English when requested so we could give our tired broken spanish a bit of rest. We booked a double bedroom and the rooms were spacious for two people.Beds are large with clean sheets. Toilets... More

What this hotel has going for it - in my humble opinion, is that the staff are great, very attentive and quick to provide for your every need. The hotel restaurant boasts the best mole in Mexico and as a mole lover, I can't disagree. We generally found the food good. It has the 2nd oldest elevator in Mexico if... More

This hotel is a colonial gem with a very reasonable price tag. First, the location - could hardly be better - walking distance to everything and a couple of blocks to the zocalo. Surrounding the hotel are restaurants, attractions and historic sites. Next the decor - beautifully decorated -both the common areas and also the rooms. I couldn't fault the... More

I just want to confirm all the prior reviews! We are staying here right now and enjoying it thoroughly. I have noticed they are doing even more to isolate it from street noise. The best rooms are on Calle 4 sur, facing the pedestrian stree by the entrance to the hotel. good food, good rooms, very convenient location. I can't... More

Yes! Now all the exterior rooms in ground, first and second floors have top quality imported Kömmerling noise insulation windows and balcony doors. Doing this in a 400 year old building classified as National Monument has been complicated and very expensive, but it has been finally done in our small family owned hotel. We are proud to have achieved it! I recently stayed at the hotel for 2 nights and enjoyed every bit of it. The room was spacious with a balcony view of the courtyard and "La Campania" (Church). It's located only one block from the Zocalo (Main square). The staff was friendly and bilingual in English or Spanish. The hotel hasn't been upgraded much due to it's amazing... More

Ideal location. Around the corner from the zocalo/city plaza - just far enough away from the constant activity and noise.. Smaller independent hotel ( 4 floors) steeped in Colonial history, this former Jesuit residence/exconvento still has original 16th Century Talavera tiles in some of the rooms. I've stayed here for years, despite checking out other hotels with colleagues, and can't... More

This beautiful hotel is an easy walk from the Zocolo. The dining room is beautiful and the 5 course meal incredible. For less than $10 person we had a great soup, then a rice dish, yummy salad with mango, amazing chicken mole poblano and desert. Best mole we had on the whole trip. Romantic and memorable. More

We just enjoyed a quick 24 hour trip to Puebla and found the Hotel Colonial a perfect place to stay. Good value, very centrally located and in such a beautiful old setting - a former convent. We will go back, for sure. More
