OK, first the positives. The staff is friendly, and helpful. The restaurant is decent. And the view of St. John's harbour from the restaurant is something else...really quite nice. An older hotel, but with the best view. Siting atop the harbor, you can see all the way out to the sea and an overview of the town. Restaurant serves average food for a normal, uninflated price. Service is prompt. While I am sure that the nearby Sheraton is newer, its all about what you are looking for. More

Dirt and stains on the carpet. Coffee stains and dirt on bed table. Bathtub stained. At least the sheets were clean ( my wife triple checked). The cheap prices are to expensive for what you get. More

Room was complete crap, holes in the ceiling, walls, no plugs worked, burn holes all over the curtains, looks like a 2 year old painted the room, bathroom tap almost fell off, burnt up iron board, couldn't use the iron no plugs worked. True to Newfoundlanders , the staff were friendly and accomodating as when the need to call the front desk at midnight to disburse the "smokers" from a gazebo under our room window . I've been to the Battery hotel a couple of times, and each time they couldn't find my reservation.. So frustrating when your waiting and waiting and still no help. The rooms were extremely dirty and for the amount of money for the room it was not worth it. Will never go back!!! More
