We just got home from our first trip to Pelee Island and stayed two nights at Anchor and Wheel. Please don't expect a typical hotel experience when you get here! This is a small family-run B&B with a kitschy, homey atmosphere. The owner, Mark, is not at all gruff. He's quietly friendly, and works fifteen hour days to run this... More

I had worked at the Anchor and Wheel in for a few summer's and loved loved loved the place!!! Mark is a great guy, may come off as abrasive but he was actually quite wonderful! The staff was happy and helpful. I also came to stay here after and received impeccable service. Food was tasty, the tiki bar was fun... More

This is a long overdue review, as we stayed there in July of 2009; We rented a room in the building which is not the bed and breakfast, we were in a first floor room with private bath. All things considered, not bad at all, I mean you're on an island and yes, it is going to be damp here... More

if you do you will be put in an out building and the rooms are dark, dank and moldy smelling. We moved over to the main house and the room was at least dry. We were not offered a refund for the difference in price. The management was thoughtless and sloppy. He offered a free night when we return to... More

We've stayed at the Anchor and Wheel and dined in their restaurant. We found the food to be good with large portions and a bit pricey BUT you have to consider that all the supplies are brought over on the ferry, so an extra $1 or $2. on a meal is a fair charge. We were there last week and... More

I worked at the Anchor and Wheel inn for 2 summers and it was the best time of my life I found the co-workers were amazing and the food was exceptional. Mark may come off short and abrasive but is actually a great boss. I have also stayed as a guest and LOVED every minute of it I am actually... More

as being awful! We ate there and the food was pretty bad. The wine is made right down the road, and it's still marked up to an astronomical 300%. Food was overpriced and under seasoned. I couldn't believe my eyes when the bill came! I think because they are one of the only restaurants on the island they think they... More

Not to deny past travellers' experiences, but I can only report as I found. Well documented that the accomodations are no frills clean and comfortable. The environment is wonderfully relaxing, whether you are a serious nature scientist or just want a walk along a leafy road, or some time in an historic cemetery followed by time to listen to the... A total of $80 for 2, for one of the worst meals we've ever had. The buffet was food obviously reheated from frozen, and nothing was seasoned. The $10 margarita that was made from a mix and overblended was the cherry on top. Lake Erie is known for Pickerel and Perch, and Anchor and Wheel advertises it. The fish was... More

Stayed Sept 16 and 17 2011.We arrived Sept 16 at 1230 and asked if we could check in no problem. The rooms are basic and the inn it self is a little retro but the rooms are clean as are sheets and towels. The restaurant has a nice natical flavor to it and the meals are pricey.Friday night is Fish... More
