We often stay at university residences when we travel in the summer. I have to say McGill New Residence Hall has probably been one of our best experiences. The members of the staff were friendly and the place seemed quite well-managed. Our room was just like any standard room at a decent hotel. The housekeeping staff did a great job... More

We were looking for accommodations in a good location, but for a reasonable price for the weekend in Montreal. This was the perfect place. Location - walking distance to the core of downtown. Saved us from driving and having to look for parking downtown Rooms - older, but spacious and had everything we needed. It included breakfast in their cafeteria,... More

The McGill New Residence Hall offers easy access to the attractions of a wonderful city. You won't get the amenities of a major hotel, but you'll get a great price, a nice breakfast, and friendly college-age staff. We spent most of our time in Montreal out in the city, so the lack of frills at the hotel was fine for... More

We stayed here for two nights in order to attend my cousin's wedding. This was not my choice, but had been preselected by them for everyone to stay at, so we could all be in the same place. We walked in and immediately were met with swarms of teenagers, all drinking and being boisterous in the lobby. There was one... More

I lived in Montreal for years while attending McGill; at the time, people could stay in student housing in the summer at a really cheap rate. But it was still student housing! The New Residence Hall, which didn't exist when I was there, used to be a hotel...so basically, they took a hotel, made minor changes to made it a... More

We booked a double room for me and my girlfriend on the Civic Holiday long weekend in August. Our room was not really clean, but at least our beds were clean and the sheets were white. We found some spit-ball stains on the ceiling and a huge stain on the ground. We basically just walked around our room in our... More

My son and I had a spacious 2 double-bed room with private bathroom, on the 16th floor of this former hotel converted into a McGill University dormitory. We had fabulous views of Montreal, and a location just slightly out of the downtown area, and it was a very doable walk to the main campus. The public transportation was not very... More

We stayed at the McGill University New Residence Hall for a one week vacation in July. Our primary factors in choosing it were: price, access to public transportation, and location. The NRH met our requirements in spades. If you're looking for 5-star accommodations, then McGill isn't for you. But, if you're going to have an active vacation, anticipate spending very... More

We stayed here while in Montreal with our 5 year old. The location is perfect, in the heart of downtown. 5 minute drive to Old Montreal. We were there on a weekend so drove our car to Old Montreal. You can find parking for 12 hrs for only $10 on weekends. If you want to save money, don't use the... More
