My wife and I spent two nights at this B&B this August. The accommodations were spacious and neat. The included breakfast was very good. The location just outside the St Louis gate, adjacent to the gardens of the Plains of Abraham, and the free parking make this a good choice for a stay in Quebec City.

My husband and I stayed at this bnb for two nights and we felt quite satisfied with the experience. We were lucky to get a room with shared bath for about $85/night. Despite what some people have said, the host was courteous and helpful. Our room was south facing and since it was July the room got quite hot after... More

We booked our stay of two nights in Quebec already in January. The owner of the premises booked us for only one night and did not regret her mistake. She hesitated to help us with organizing another room. The B&B is located near a very busy street. Walk to the old centre takes at least 30 minutes, not the indicated... More

The owners are not the warmest, the room was freezing (plus 8 outside temperature) and refused to turn on the heat. $160 a night (including late checkout) - not a great value - and the neighborhood is boring and not the best one. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

I will not forget the warmth and hospitality of this place. It is in a very nice street, away from the traffic and buses that usually get around the old town and yet very close to all touristic attraction. Within walking distance you can find all sorts of pubs and restaurants. A bus to the old city stops 50 m... More

We found the owner's rules persnickety and condescending. We had a child get sick while on the trip which caused her to cough. Owner told us we disturbed other guests due to old house. We explained that we would have gone elsewhere rather than disturb except for the cancelation rules that require half payment if you cancel at anytime and... More

There are a number of false claims that Villa Montcalm makes on its web site. Let's start with those. It's 30 minutes, not a 10 minute walk to Old Quebec. The breakfasts are far from stupendous. In fact, after 20 years of staying in countless B&Bs all over North America and Europe, their breakfasts were the smallest most lacking of... More

We just spent 4 days at the Villa Montcalm. The pros: Beautiful area and house The cons: False advertising. It is not 10 minutes from Old Quebec, more like 30 minutes at a good pace. The hostess is not overly friendly, but she does have a young woman Marie-Eve that is quite pleasant and informative. The room was not cleaned,... More

My husband and I were cordially greeted at the door by innkeeper Lyse. The 20-year home owner spoke fluent English and gave us a brief tour of the house and shared a map of the city with us before leading us up to our room on the second floor. The house was impeccable with beautiful antiques and charm. Our room,... More

I travelled across Eastern Canada in summer 2005, and stayed here for 2 nights. Out of all the B&Bs where I stayed, this was my worst experience. I would never stay here again. Admittedly, the B&B is on a quiet street, in a nice neighborhood. The hostess, however, was very challenging, and the cause of all our discomfort while there.... More
