Having read all the negative comments, we were expecting the worst. But our stay turned out a nice surprise, so let me get some things straight: the check in was fast, we could even choose a preferred room. The restaurant & bar was in pleasant country style, the food was very tasty (chicken with rice), the service was prompt and... More

Owner was rude rude rude! We travelled up the dempster and found there was a road closure further up so stayed two nights instead of one. We had a baby and our dog. Very well behaved dog who would stay with us and laid down most of the time....there were other dogs there allowed to roam where ever they wanted... More

Old, tired, worn out, isolated, but wonderful nonetheless. Eagle Plains Hotel, despite all this, is a welcome respite at the end of a long tiring drive up the Dempster Highway. We stayed 1 night on the way up to and 1 night on the way down from Inuvik. The hotel is not much of a muchness. There was a musty... More

OK, let me clarify that title. If you plan your drive so that you have to stop in halfway down the Dempster, they are the only choice. Normally, I would have camped, but the highway was in such terrible condition that we arrived here 3 hours later than planned. With a 3 year old and a dog in the car,... More

I understand that being so far removed from civilization things cost a little more, and finding good help is hard, but none the less I felt the service was awful in the restaurant, I had to find my own menu and clear a table for myself while the waitress socialized with a table full of her friends. There was one... More

We were travelling the Dempster Hwy and stopped in for food and gas. The cafe closes at 7pm so we sat in the Lounge. We sat for 20 minutes and did not see anyone working there. Finally a very unhappy and unfriendly bartender came to ask us if we wanted a drink. We asked if there was food. She said... More

Don't show up here expecting a 5 star place, you'll be disappointed, but what you will get is a comfortable bed, hot shower and a restaurant with decent truck stop type food. The place was really understaffed but we were in no hurry, relaxing after a long dusty day on the motorcycles. Good bar complete with a stuffed musk ox!... More

We did not stay at tyhe hotel but viewed the rooms as clean and average especially for where the hotel is located. BUT what we did find was the most helpful and accomodating staff and owners one could want. With a break down on the Dempstre Highway one is at the mercy of all who come to help. Stan and... More

The address above (currently Bag Service 2735, Whitehorse, Yukon Y1A 3V5, Canada) is where post is sent not where the hotel is. The hotel is near to marker 371KM on the Dempster Highway about 400km north of Dawson and about 350km South of Inuvik. Due to the remoteness of this hotel, it's never going to be a 5-star luxury hotel... More

Given the remote location, this hotel proved more than adequate. Staff were friendly. Room was fine. Wifi was down briefly, then came back on. Staying here was a big plus. It gave us a chance to explore a gorgeous section of the Dempster Highway late into the sunstruck evening. Our only quibble concerns the food. Breakfast was ok, but dinner... More
