We arrived with friends who were cycling from south Devon to Ilracombe on a wet evening to be met by Julia and Peter our charming hosts. Rooms are tastefully decorated with an ensuite bathroom with heaps of hot water. We chose to dine in house and this was superb with all food locally sourced - champagne aperetif, asparagus to start,... More

We loved our stay with Julia from start to finish. We were made to feel very welcome and relaxed. Julia's cooking is absolutely delicious and her portions were very generous. The house is stylish and charming, yet with no hint of the stressy-preciousness that can sometimes be found in this league of good quality B&Bs. The town is sweet, well... More

Tea and biscuits on arrival and lovely shortbread in the rooms were just the start. I'm usually disappointed by the sausages at otherwise-good B&Bs, but not here. A couple of meaty chipolatas, three rashers of bacon, fresh tomato and mushroom plus enough scrambled egg to constitute a breakfast on its own - all preceded by fresh fruit salad and stewed... More

Grey cottage was our second 'off the cuff' overnight stay whilst walking the South West Coast Path. We were made most welcome in a lovely comfortable room, with an excellent shower and plenty of space for us and our backpacking gear. We were collected from the village pub on a wet night, and cooked a beautiful breakfast the next morning.... More

What a wonderful place in a beautiful setting - nestling up on the hill. Julia made us extremely welcome - greeting us with a delicious cream tea on arrival. The rooms are tastefully decorated with simple rustic furniture that gives the place a lot of character. The cottage is a short walk from the beach and close to a pleasant... More

We have delighted in staying at Grey Cottage so many times now over the last 5 years or so that we have lost count. We stumbled serendipitously upon Grey Cottage and Lee when seeking somewhere to stay for a short getaway with friends one summer weekend. We were blown away by it: the breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful location, the warm... More

My husband and I spent a few blissful days at Grey Cottage on our honeymoon. What a wonderful find it was! The pretty cottage is set above the bay and you are offered tea and cake on the lawn when you arrive. Julia is an amazing baker and cook (she used to run an organic bakery in London), so you... More

As soon as you arrive at this B&B you feel at home. A huge pot of tea and homemade biscuits are waiting in the cosy sitting room overlooking the woodland valley leading to Lee Bay. The rooms are light and airy and prettily furnished with a lovely mix of antique and contemporary furnishings and are en suite, but you can... More

We were looking for somewhere nice on the Devon coast for a weekend break. I booked Grey Cottage because it looked like a lovely house in an area close to the coast but not in a busy resort, as indeed it turned out to be. The cottage is run by Julia, a delightful, lady who makes you feel very welcome.... More

This place is good for the soul. Set in the valley leading to the quiet seaside village of Lee on the stunning North Devon Coast, you will be welcomed by the proprietor Julia. She was a professional chef in London before moving to set up this inviting and homely B&B. The rooms are small but elegantly furnished with a welcome... More
