Susan & Philip & Jack, We have stayed at this hotel on three occasions, chosen initially because they offered a friendly welcome to our little Jack Russell...oh and to us too! Warm welcome and clean and comfortable rooms. Excellent breakfasts and although they are not currently doing evening meals, the village has a good choice of pubs and restaurants and... More

Jeff and Liz made us feel very welcome and the breakfast with locally sourced bacon and sausages was lovely. The room was clean and comfortable with good quality furniture and fittings. Bed very comfortable. Slight niggle was there was no hairdrier and I had forgotten to pack mine! Nice touch was the additional heater as we stayed during a very... More

I stayed over with my son as my husband was in Wrightington Hospital for an operation, the hotel is conveniently located, a few shops up the road together with a couple of Take aways. I would definately recommend this hotel, the owner was really friendly and helpful, room was spotlessly clean and tidy. The breakfast was also really good.

Nothing is too much trouble for the kind and friendly owners. The rooms are simple and clean with good amenties. The village is delightful. Ever my strange breakfast requests did not startle them. The hotel is conventiently located only a few yards from the station but I never was woken or heard any trains. My favourite walk was by the... More

What a great find. Wonderful friendly owners, Jeff and Liz. Comfortable and clean rooms, and a nice hearty breakfast. We were made to feel very welcome - and so were our 2 Springer Spaniels. Great location for the canal and many local attractions. We were there for a surprise 30th party. We will definitely be coming back.

We stayed after visiting Martin Mere nature reserve which is about a 10-15 min drive away. I must admit I was a bit wary as the B&B seemed suspiciously cheap. However, I got a try pleasant surprise. The hotel is clean and tidy, the rooms comfy, staff friendly and helpful and the full veggie breakfast was really excellent. We really... More

Jeff & Liz greeted us very warmly on arrival. Lovely large, clean & comfortable room at the front of the hotel. The breakfast was delicious - all the items were good quality and there was plenty of it! Jeff was a great host; friendly and chatty. The only suggestion I have for improvement would be to clean the carpets in... More

Warm and friendly greeting on our arrival when we were immediately shown the room. This was a good size with large on en-suite shower room. Quality soft white towels were nicely laid out on a very comfortable double bed. Jeff and Liz offered a freshly cooked breakfast with warm and friendly service. Nothing was too much trouble for them. I stayed at the Douglas Valley Hotel during a bike ride along the Leeds to Liverpool canal. The service was great. Me, my sister and a friend showed up covered in mud with three very muddy bikes and were able to wash them down, lock them away in a secure shed and was even offered to have some washing done...
