I have no idea how some people have enjoyed this place! You may have a good night here but if you have a night like our you will wish you never took the risk! My advice there is no way this place is worth staying in. So our welcome, you have to go through a busy pub to get to... More

I'm sorry that you were disappointed in your visit to the Gissons this is not the normal level of service we aim to deliver. There is no excuse for poor service. You should have been warned that we had a music event on that evening. It’s a shame that you didn't voice your concerns on your visit as we would... More

Bank holiday weekend and, not much open, so my hubby and I decided to pop in for dinner. It was a first time visit and plan to come back again. We were served at the bar by a lovely gent and, the blonde lady at reception was very friendly and chatty, which I like to see. The selection of three... More

Thought we would give this place a try as hadn't been here for at least 10 years. When we arrived had to wait at bar for 5 mins until someone came to serve drinks. Could only see 2 members of staff, the chap behind the bar was running around clearing plates, taking food orders and serving behind the bar and... More

I'm sorry that you were disapointed in your visit to the Gissons. There is no excuse for poor service due to being understaffed. The gissons prides itself in good quality and where possible local produce. The scampi that we use is whole tail this is something that our customer have prefered. I do hope that you will visit us again... More

Met up with 20 former business colleagues from Devon and Cornwall at the Gisson for lunch. The location was very good just outside Exeter and very easy to find just off the A38, with plenty of parking in the large car park. They have good range of drinks with local real ale on tap. They have a very popular carvery... More

Gissons is one of the best hotels we have stayed in. The manager and her staff are welcoming, friendly and can't do enough for their guests. The food is excellent and the carvery fantasic. Next time we are in Exeter we will be staying at the Gissons. Thanks for a great stay More

Gissons is local to us and we visit regularly. Since the new owners took over the restaurant has improved greatly and we often pop in for a "senior citizen" special lunch or a Sunday lunch - especially their nut roast which is excellent! The carvery vegetables are well cooked, not over cooked, and the choice is interesting. Vege gravy is... More

Potentially a lovely old property with character and charm, reality is very dissapointing, although the staff were friendly and polite. Real Ales mostly not available, restaraunt offers poor qulaity at fair prices although the carvery is kind of o.k. Won't be rushing back despite it being recommended to us. I'm told the accomodation has all been recently upgraded, perhaps they'll... More

I stayed at the gissons on business and wasn't disappointed. I stayed in one of the rooms at the top of the house, spacious and modern. Great service, friendly staff, great price and lovely breakfast too. For £55 this is a great quality hotel. More

We only ate at the Gissons for a quick Sunday carvery whilst passing by (saves cooking as it was getting late) The outside looks like a traditional olde worlde pub by the side of the A38/M5 - good access off the road. Big car park and tidy inside, although typical old style pub trying to be gastro in it's decor.... More
