Like the sign says "at the end of this terrible road is a wonderful place!"... found this place in Oct 2017, when looking for a surprise Anniversary getaway for my wife and I, and Kari and Dallas did a terrific job of accommodating us. Had such a great time that we came back again this year, which is the first time we've ever gone to the same cabin or resort twice. And we'll keep coming back! Did a little fishing, hiking, relaxing, and cooking special meals in the cabin, enjoying the fireplace and the view. Can definitely find the space to think... there's a very positive atmosphere here. Had the great fortune to meet the original "Tinker" who started it all. Like other reviewers have noted- the family that runs this is special, it's a neat place with a great story, and it's just fun to go there. Makes me think i don't want too many people to know about it... it's that cool.

A couple years back, we stayed as a group for a work event. Did the fly-in package and shore lunch. Had the breakfast dinner package as well. Great cabins, food, service and atmosphere. Fishing was the stuff you talk about for years! If you are looking for the true up-north experience, you will never go wrong here! BTW Date entered is not correct, but is as far back as I could select. We were there in July 2012. Thanks again

We have a group of friends (23 adults and 4 kids and 7 under 3 ) that wanted to stay at a resort in Canada. We were lucky to find Tinkers place. We rented all 6 cabins. They were clean and well stocked, with toasters, coffee makers and ice all ready in the freezer. If we needed anything like a griddle or crockpot, we just asked! They provide drinking water but we brought our own for convenience. Most cabins had all twin beds and we brought Pack and Plays for the babies. So each adult had a bed with towels and washcloths. We all were thankful for showers in each cabin and we brought our own blowup little bathtub for the babies. We loved the beach area and the beautiful views from the decks. Each deck had a grill and at least two chairs! This place had it all. A beautiful outdoor pavilion area that we used each night to gather as a group and make our own meals. They provide meals too if you want. Their Friday night fish fry was a highlight. The beach had kayaks, paddle board, paddle boat, and a nice sand area for the little ones. Our group enjoyed catching fish right off the docks. We would order our bait the night before and it would be delivered to our dock that morning. So convenient! The docks are large and protected. We could see our boat from our deck. Finally it is the people who make this place great! It is family owned and they work hard to make our vacation a special trip. Thank you for sharing your wonderful place with us. The Canada Group 2018

What makes this place outstanding is the owners. Very friendly and helpful in all categories you would want in a resort. Fishing was great. A sea plane could take you to a isolated lake and include a nice shore lunch.

When I read reviews, unless there are quite a few, I tend to disregard. So I am adding this review just agree wholeheartedly with the other who have given it 5 stars. My wife and I are not fisherpeople. But we really wanted a quiet Ontario lakefront cabin with a canoe and rocky forested shores. I grew up in Canada and spent at least part of every summer in the north woods on a lake. After 40 years in California, I have begun to crave that kind of setting for a vacation unwind. Now this place attracts mostly fishermen, I understand. And that is fine ... I hear the fishing is superb. But it also gave us just what we wanted. Our cabin is about 12 meters from the water. It has beds for six people. GOOD mattresses. The site is far enough off the lightly travelled local road that it is very quiet. Kari and her husband grew up in the area. Kari's family built the place up cabin by cabin over 30+ years. It is not luxurious, but I would not call it rustic, either. Kari a warm and attentive host but in no way intrusive. I should say that they also run a fly in fishing service to more remote sites. But here at Tinker's, it was drive in and park. My wife and I are already looking to return here when we can. Are you getting that we really like the place and the way the people here handle it and themselves?

Private lakes to fish, great guide (Will), cabins rustic but well equipped. Really beautiful country, we had a great time. We caught walleye, northers, lake trout, and small mouth bass. This is a float plane, fly in trip so pack light, bring extra whiskey, we ran out on day 4.

We arrived very late at night so Tinker’s gave us careful instructions on how to accurately find the cabin and they left both the indoor and outdoor lights so we could find which cabin was ours. One of the dogs was making his way home along the road and actually guided us straight from the road down to the lodges, which I can’t be certain is a consistent part of the service, but we certainly appreciated it! Cabin 2 was clean and welcoming, plenty of wood if we wanted to light the fire. Fresh gallons of water in the fridge and condiments in the cupboards. Fresh towels and toiletries were folded and placed neatly on each bed making each person feel like they were being individually looked after which was nice. The next morning Kare came knocking at the door babe on hip and child at feet, to make sure we’d been able to get in okay, which we had because of their preparations. She had lots to tell us about the amenities and even offered to let us use the laundry on site as well as telling us where to find the laundromat in town. Kare told us where the main lodge is and that breakfast and dinner would be served promptly at 7am and 7pm respectively, which is very easy to remember although the kitchen in cabin 2 was well equipped enough for us to happily self-cater and the grill on the decking was put to good use. The local supermarket had more than enough to give us supplies for the 6 days that we stayed. N.B. the wooden wine stand on the dining table fits a 1.5L bottle perfectly! Once up at the lodge we mentioned maybe wanting to do some hiking. Later on that afternoon Kirsty had placed in our cabin a printed map and guide of hikes in the area we’d been looking at. Great service and helped us work out before we went how much of a hike we wanted to do. Looking at the guest book in the cabin 2 living room, we noted that Friday Fry Day seemed to be very popular so we booked this with Kare. On the night we turned up a little late at 7.20pm so make sure you arrive promptly to make sure you get every opportunity to try the delicious food! They don’t run out, there’s wild rice, coleslaw and bread with perfectly fired fish, but if you want seconds come at 7pm! Everything wraps up quickly at approximately 8pm but it’s worth going because you get to meet friendly locals who tell you some great stories and can tell you where to fish! Once again talking to Kare about what we’d ideally like to do led to us sitting on a sea-plane just hours later, heading to an outpost cabin of Tinker’s. Completely unexpected, and she really pulled it together for us. The pilot was just incredible, super friendly and we enjoyed chatting to him as he turned on the water and gas for us at the outpost. A deer was wading in the lake at the side of the cabin when we arrived and seemed happy to chill while we watched. A friendly seagull kept his eye on our bait and he’s apparently a well-known character by that cabin. Returning to Cabin 2 on the mainland we really took in the sights. If you go down to the Tinker’s Place dock which is very close to the cabins, you can actually fish just off of there and catch Large-mouth Bass, Northern and Perch. They have fishing equipment you can borrow from a cabin on the dock as well as two canoes and a paddle board you can use at any time. Animals and birds abound, chipmunk, chickadees, woodpeckers, pelicans, heron and stork. It’s a stunning location and the family run business is efficient and the people so kind and thoughtful. Definitely highly recommended.

This is a family run group of cabins and organized fishing tours. They immediately impress you with their genuine hospitality and warmth. There are several cabins which house varying number of guests. Our's slept six and included a kitchen, bathroom, dining and living rooms. It was clean, cozy, and perfect for the Canadian lake setting. Our group had varying degrees of skilled fisherman and yet all thoroughly enjoyed the action and variety of fish. What can be "cooler" than landing on the water in a single prop plane, then boating to beautiful untouched natural Canadian lakes, and catching trophy lake trout, walleye, and northern pike? As a fisherman, this was the equivalent of my olympics! We caught fish during the first half of the day and then Ryan and the other guides cleaned them and cooked them up fresh, right out of the water, for us for lunch. We fished the afternoon and returned back to the grounds. For dinner, we all met in the central cabin for a wonderful home cooked meal. I was honored to have been included by a good friend of mine who has returned to Tinker's yearly for more than thirty years. I am hoping to return again and again with the same troupe and perhaps introduce more family and friends to this great tradition.

Three generations of the Salinas family have visited for the past three years. Our first visit we were overwhelmed with the beauty and peacefulness. Tinker and his beautiful wife Sharon were the perfect host. Our following two trips are better described as visiting family where you can also fish. The guides are great, but also better described as fishing with brothers. We all eagerly await our next visit. Oh yeah, the fishing is great. Art Salinas, Tomball Texas

I can't even begin to describe how amazing this place is! Not only is there beautiful accommodations, the views and fishing are superb. We chose Tinker's as our wedding venue and are so incredibly happy we did! Kari and the staff made all our wedding dreams come true. From fulfilling our every little wish/idea, to making delicious food (and amazing wedding cakes!), to making sure is and all our 25 family and friends were satisfied and taken care of, Tinker's never disappointed! I highly recommend this little piece of paradise to any angler (we're local to Northwestern Ontario and know our fishing 😉 - scored 25 walleye between four boats in just over an hour), family vacationer, couple looking for some romance and especially for a wedding venue! I can't say enough nice things about Tinker's! Can't wait to go back next year!
