We only ate there, found the recommendation in the Good Food & Good Pub guides, but wish we had stayed there too- the pictures of the rooms looked good. The food was superb, varied fresh menu with lovely fish. The staff were charming. Essential to book as the locals all seemed to be using it for their special night out. More

We stayed for one night last week and had a great stay. There was real attention to detail, with home made biscuits, fresh milk and chocolates on the pillow to name just a few. The customer care was excellent and the food was delicious. The room was decorated nicely and spotlessly clean. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel. More

We booked on spec the night before we went in May 2012. We had stopped by for lunch once before but with our 'foodie' son and daughter in law with us from the Far East we wanted to treat them to some good Yorkshire hospitality. The service was faultless - the Swiss waiter was very helpful and the Manager more... More

we had lunch at this pub awarded by the guides. We were late but the kitchen waited for us which was very polite. The suckling pig was excellent and the ales too. The ambience has a nice feeling with the fireplace and the beams. We found the atmosphere very relaxed, not loud and easy going which is perfect for a... More

Called in here for lunch on Sunday (06/05), the place was very busy but the staff were welcoming and found space for ‘2 more’. The service itself was rather unusual in that once at your table armed with your menu and you had then made up your mind you would order at the bar ~ shortly thereafter your table would... More

My wife and I booked this a a last minute weekend break. On arrival we found out that the room we had booked had the shower over the bath. As my wife had recently had a hip operation, it was not suitable. No Problem! The Manager Fred changed our room to the Sycamore Suite with a walk in shower at... More

We booked the Angle after walking up Great Wearnside. Had a fantastic bottle of red with a lovely smoked haddock and pea resotto, followed by suckling pig. Just what the doctor ordered after wandering in the cold country side. More

We had lunch at the Angel on Easter Sunday in the Bar Brasserie (there is a more formal restaurant too) and we've previously been for a Christmas Eve lunch too. The bar brasserie is made up of a number of rooms set around the bar. There are some fabulously ancient looking beams that appear to be holding up various bits... More

We stayed in an annex room for just one night and can confirm this really is a very good little hotel. The room was really excellent, spacious, comfortable, clean and well equipped with nice views to the moors. Good decor - plain and pretty - no retirement home chintz here thank heavens! A very comfortable bed and a spacious and... More
