Did not stay here, but we came as part of the tour to see fireflies. It was way overhyped and not worth it. It is nothing special and we asked to turn back quickly so that we could get back to Kuala Lumpur. I would not recommend it at all.

We visited the place at night, it's a package of a boat ride on the lake with a seafood meal in a nearby restaurant. The meal was not that good, atmosphere & food quality was very average. After meal we boarded the boat & it's an unusual feeling to see the lake in the dark. When we got to the some parts of the lake, we saw some dimly sparking trees. May be our guide exaggerated a bit before we came, I expected seeing Christmas-lights effect from the fireflies, but actually it's quite dim, you could hardly notice them if you didn't come close enough. The guide gave us some fireflies to play with in our hands too. Anyway, it's a new & unusual experience.

Absolutely amazing experience, saw fire flies for the first time in my life. It was so peaceful floating along the river. The man paddling for us even caught a fire fly and allowed us to hold it and see it up close. Highly recommended, would be great for kids! Just remember some mosquito spray

This firefly resort is a combination of firefly park, resort, restaurant etc. We went to see only the fireflies for our second visit. We stayed at the resort a few years ago, but now they have added a large swimming pool. You need to be there early around 6 or 6.30pm to buy the tickets. Then walk over to the jetty, secure a life jacket for yourself first, take a seat and wait for your number to be called. Normally the trip starts after dusk. You'll sometimes see the fireflies close to the jetty as their homes are the specific trees along the river. On a clear night you could see the stars above too. You'll feel you're among the stars as around you there'll be a lot of fireflies. This is an activity not to be missed if you're in Kuala Selangor.

We did the firefly tour on the boats and it was amazing. The boats and the waters weren’t crowded at all and they brought us just centimeter away from the fireflies. It was absolutely beautiful. Would definitely recommend doing this.

Resort is average with chalet type. Big chalet with 2 rooms and 1 bath. I am happy with the size. It can easily fit in 4 pax or maybe more. The bathroom however need some attn whereby the sink was leaking so cant use it comfortably plus the water heater is not plugged in.. I suppose its not working. The swimming pool is huge. Ideal for family activities especially the younger ones. The jetty for fireflies watch is within the resort itself that is why I think this location is the best for fireflies trip. Parking is ample. The restaurant nearby was closed that time so had to go bit far outside to find food but it was OK. I dont mind that. The fireflies trip was great experience for me and my family. We even ask for an extended trip and just pay some tips. Fireflies really amaze us all.. Overall this resort is the best for its location since its so convenient for fireflies trip. Also one of the best option for family chalet.

Rented a car and took the drive from KL. Nice easy drive along the highways for the most part....but found little signposting on the roads as we got nearer. Thankfully our sat nav got us there ok. The firefly tour seemed to be a kind of family run business rather than an overly commercial one.....and as a result wasn't overly busy. It seemed like a pretty small scale operation, but everything qent off smoothly without a hitch. There is a seafood restaurant nearby that I think is included in the tour..but as we went by ourselves we didn't get to try it. The tour is pretty short (about 20 mins) but you do get to see quite a few fireflies. We were told the population is getting lower year by year so maybe a good idea to go see them now while you still can. Did a similar tour in Kota Kinabalu years ago and were far more fireflies...but more tourists. Overall a decent trip and I am glad I went. It was cheap enough and something you can't really see easily elsewhere. NOTE I didn't stay at the actual resort so cannot comment on the accomodation.

Have been firefly watching on few occassions but always at Kampung Kuantan, decided to try Firefly Park Resort this time. And I wasn't disappointed... I felt this venue was far less commercialized, perhaps because they run a 'resort' as a whole and firefly watching is just one of their businesses. Definitely less people (and tourists) here, making the wait much shorter. Upon purchase of tickets, you'll be given a queue number. Just walk through the Resort to the jetty, grab a life vest and wait for your number to be called. You'll be arranged onto a fiberglass boat with a 'canopy', each boat takes 12 pax I think and off you go. Make sure to apply sufficient insect repellant, loads of mosquitoes around!!! By comparison to Kg Kuantan, boats were more modern, fiberglass body, quiet electric powered motor (compared to the wooden rowboats) and larger. Guides were chattier and more informative as well, probably because they didn't have to row the boat, leaving nothing else to do!! And I felt there were significantl more spots where we sighted fireflies here (although this may be purely coincidental to the season, weather, moon etc and nothing to do with the location of this resort). Overall, had a very pleasant trip and were done fairly quickly. From time of ticket purchase to end of tour, probably 1 hour max. Just take note that firefly watching attractions in Kuala Selangor are not 'professionally' run attractions, mainly family businesses that has grown (Kampung Kuantan has had some help from local municipal council). As such, do manage your expectations of the facilities, service, toilets etc. For non-local visitors, I would suggest taking the numerous day trip packages offered which includes visit to the Fort, seafood dinner and firefly watching rather than staying out here in Kuala Selangor overnight. Not unless you're really into small town homestays (with minimal facilities) and have plenty of time to spend. Otherwise, this attraction is about a 1.5 hour journey out of the city, very manageable as a day trip.

The chalets are pretty big and we had lots of space for our little family (2 kids). The chalets are clean and quite comfortable. You have an easy access to the fireflies tour. The area is quiet but... our neighbours were a group of Chinese very loud. They drunk, ate and chatted outside no caring for other people. Thankfully the rain came to help us and they had to go back inside giving us some peace. Unfortunately the aircon was as well very noisy and our night was not that nice. Finally we were not able to have a warm shower, only cold water was available. The experience was not so bad and I assume it all depends on the chalet you have and the neighbours...

Worth the drive (which can be a bit confusing) and ticket price (rm15) to see this natural beauty :) driver caught a firefly so we could view it up close Did not stay the night here. The getting on the boat process was a bit disorganised. Tip: bring mosquito repellent!
