I booked a night away in the Shepherd's Hut as a surprise for my husband. We had been recommended by friends who stayed there for Valentines Day (see review below!) and we loved it! We had cream teas on arrival and were directed to a lovely pub for dinner. The hut itself had spectacular views, was furnished to a very... More

We stayed in the Shepherd's Hut at Bassettwood on March 31st. We arrived in the afternoon and were shown to the hut which was absolutely delightful and already warm which was great after the walking we had been doing earlier in the day. We arrived to cream tea that was lovely and warm and very tasty! The hut was fantastic.... More

We decided to venture to Bassettwood as planned on Good Friday, for a 2 night stay in the farm house and after several emails back and forth between myself and Sarah, as we were concerned about the recent heavy snow falls. I really dont know where to begin, we arrived around 1pm and decided to have a cuppa in the... More

I booked a weekend in the Shepherd Hut as a surprise for my girlfriends birthday. We arrived and were shown to the beautiful hut situated on a little patch of grass in the farm yard next to a field of sheep. The hut was fantastically decorated and kitted out and was already warm as the owner had turned on the... More

We ventured over to Bassettwood after a walk along the Tissington Trail. It is a fair way from the main road but well worth the drive down a bumpy track. The farmhouse serves soups and sandwiches in a lovely dining room. Brian was fantastic explaining about the building and farm etc. The food was all homemade and fantastic value with... More

There is a tea shop in Tissington but they close November to March so we walked the promised 3/4 mile to Bassettwood which is a farm which looks more like 2km away on the map and does sometimes seem like the road is going nowhere. This is not much more than a small room in the farmhouse with 3 tables... More

I booked the shepherds hut for valentines for my husband as a surprise treat, and it turned out to be the best decision I've made in a long time! We arrived to a warm, friendly welcome from Brian, who showed us the hut and explained how the log burner worked, gave us directions to a lovely pub across the fields... More

We rocked up on Valentine's day, a day when the tea rooms were technically not open, but were still welcomed, given a great snack and our toddler offered a chance to feed a lamb. Awesome. Thanks and good luck.

A friendly welcome from the lovely hosts, Brian and Sarah, made me feel welcome from the start. I was staying on my own, but there was plenty of good conversation without it being intrusive. Brian was full of suggestions about things to do and see, his knowledge of the area was second to none. The room was warm and comfortable... More
