A group of eight friends came here to celebrate my husband's fiftieth birthday. The building is beautiful and the decor is a great mix of old and new which works really well together. Dinner was excellent with an unusual combination of ingredients in almost every dish. However what makes this place special is the staff. The team had obviously been... More

After our second visit to The Peacock, I thought it right only to review it on here. On both occasions have the food and service been of an impeccable standard. The staff are well informed about the food and were easily able to answer our inquisitive questions regarding the dishes. As the title of this review suggests, if you can't... More

We had a lovely stay here but it was very expensive and we weren't impressed that we had to pay for our cooked breakfast! Our room was nice and the shower was fun! We had a relax by the fire with tea & coffee on arrival. I would eat here again as the food was delicious but don't think I... More

My girlfriend and I recently stayed for a night in the Peacock and thoroughly enjoyed it! The 17th century building is beautiful inside and out and is a 1 minute walk to uninterrupted countryside. We were greeted by friendly staff and shown to a lovely room with the perfect mix of old and new with the old matching the history... More

We visited The Peacock one evening in late April, looking for a quiet ale in a traditional, cosy village location. Our initial concerns and pretention-alerts were triggered when a polite lady greeted us at the door, we could only assume, to vet us and ensure we would be suitable clientele for her establishment. We were then ushered into a deserted... More

We went to The Peacock at lunch time and what a treat. I have always considered it to be expensive but the lunch menu is fantastic value. Great food from an excellent menu, service that can't be bettered in wonderful calm and classy surroundings. This place has style - original features with modern tasteful details. Very well done. At this... More

I had lunch at this hotel recently, with two friends. It's a splendid old building, and there was a warm welcome. We chose to have drinks in a very comfortable lounge ( there's also an atmospheric bar, with a wood fire ) . The lounge has armchairs you can sink into, and you are surrounded by sporting prints and books. This... More

I've never reviewed online before about a hotel as usually if i have a bad experience I email the management concerned, but in this case my experience wasn't completely bad, just a more 'odd' than 'bad'. My husband and i stayed here for two nights in april as we were visiting family in nearby matlock. We arrived to a friendly... More

Just stayed the one night, Very nice room, other than the unpleasant odour in the toilet. Could only complain the next day and they really didn't want to know. Dinner nothing special. Grossly over-priced. With 2 other couples who thought the same. More

I was taken here for a meal on my 50th birthday (a Thursday night). We were a little surprised at how quiet the place was given the reputation and reviews on Trip Advisor. We were greeted at the door by three waiters and a receptionist and ushered in the attractive bar. Having chosen our courses, we were brought a particularly... More
