I have wanted to stay here for a while and was pleased to suddenly notice a vacancy a few days ahead for my coming weekend trip (the Radisson Blu was swiftly cancelled). The good stuff has been said by others - this place is hard to fault. My room, Room 7, has some mixed reviews - it cannot be faulted... More

As most reviewers have commented this is a very smart B&B, beautifully decorated and staffed by a very friendly and yet professional team. We were made really welcome on arrival. I agree with the Hotel du Vin comment. Yes, it does have that feel to it, albeit on a much smaller scale. Breakfast was great and on check out we... More

Have stayed here numerous times now though weirdly I always have the same room! However, my wife has stayed in other rooms and assures me they are just a s nice. Thirty Eight has lovely views across the Downs to the front and across Bristol at the back, as it's high up on the hill at the top of Whiteladies... More

My husband & I stayed here for 2 nights as a romantic weekend away in a superior house room, and really enjoyed our stay. On arrival, we were greeted warmly and offered plenty of information about the hotel, local sights & places to visit. We arrived a couple of hours before check-in, but the staff were very happy to let... More

Stayed recently one night. A well presented building, spotless and very comfortable, and so it should be because it is part of the Dorrien Smith family enterprises, and as they are the people behind Tresco Estate then you are not going to be disappointed. Breakfast was beautifully cooked and its nice to get a decent sized serving of local produce,... More

We stayed for just one night. The room - a superior house room - was at the front overlooking the downs, we arrived late in the afternoon and the room was flooded with sunlight. There was a well stocked mini bar with all the usual luxuries including fresh milk and it was sensibly priced too. The room was large and... More

My partner & I stayed here for one night over the May bank holiday & absolutely loved it. We booked the West Loft suite and could not have asked for more. The Jazz music that filled the room was the perfect touch. Very helpful staff, couldnt do enough. Breakfast was everything we needed and more. Highly recommended

We searched online endlessly to find a chic boutique hotel in Clifton... we think this is probably the only one! We booked the East Loft Suite (we wanted the West Loft Suite, but it was unavailable for the night we wanted to book). Don't be fooled by the photos online - the East Loft Suite is gorgeous and just as... More

Just returned from an overnight stay in room 1; it is stunning, quiet, and simply fabulous. Shonna welcomed us with warmth and humour, and we were offered breakfast in our room. Would book again when a treat is in order.

Beautiful beds, great linen, friendly service, brilliant breakfast. No.38 is a townhouse at the 'top' of Bristol. It's an easy stroll to Clifton shops and the suspension bridge. It looks across the downs from the front and has a gorgeous rooftop view over Bristol from the rear. Rooms are very stylish, with a warm ambience and contemporary look. I especially... More
