I stayed here last year before christmas as a last resort really. The double room was very small for two people, the sheets were clean, the decor was dusty and needed updating. To be honest I was that bothered about this as we just wanted something simple + cheap. The real annoyances came in the morning. You have to share... More

Damp, dank & dusty. No mention during booking or on website that full English breakfast is £5 per head extra. We won't be back. More

I needed a cheap and accessible place for one night in Cambridge. This was it. Cheap (£42) and very accessible. My room (No.1) was on the ground floor just in from the front door. Two beds, toilet, shower, sink, TV. Not the Ritz but well worth the money. Parking was fine (there were 5 cars in the car park including... More

Booked via Booking.com, arrivied on scheduled date. Administrator said that they can not provide roon with the shower as I booked since shower is broken. Offered me the room with no shower instead or move to another gest house. I went to see another location and talked to administrator who happened to be very rude and unprofessional . I decided... My room was very clean and confortable, but there were some basic problems with the lodging: 1) The shower wasn't hot enough and the water didn't have enough pressure for me to even consider washing my hair. I got out of the shower freezing because not only there wasn't enough hot water but also the bathroom heating was off 2)... More

I am a student on a budget with not particularly high expectations of hotels. That being said, Ashtrees Guest House suited my needs, which was a clean and safe place to crash for the night. At 55 English pounds per night, it was more expensive than I wanted to pay, but due to its somewhat close location to the train... More

The only reason we stayed here was because we were relocated here, after being told that our 4-poster bedroom at the Brooklands Guest House and been double-booked. Exactly the same thing happened to another couple in Ashtrees that night - what a coincidence. What was supposed to be a Valentines surprise for myself and my girlfriend was certainly that -... More

Very nice on the phone; coming late and told me they’d leave the key under the mat after 9pm. No probs getting in. (thank you other reviewers who had said this was a problem, so I knew to call as soon as I found that I was going to be late!) Somewhat dumpy and run down (threadbare carpet that could... More

This was a last minute choice as we were running out of options. Some earlier reviews were not great but others suggested it was seeming to turn a corner. The positives: owner is so helpful, friendly and just "nice" Location is fine Bus stops opposite to/from town £1.70 e/w or get a £3 day ticket and save The less positive: room... More
