Just returned from a weekend treat. Portbyhan Hotel is now under new ownership and listening to the staff they have some exciting plans for this hotel. The hotel is in need of love and attention but the welcome from the staff was warm and inviting. Excellent position with wonderful views over the harbour and if you do not want to... More

Just returned from a wonderful break to Portbyhan Hotel. The hotel has recently been purchased by Edwards Coaches South Wales and is in need of TLC. But in near future will be improved completely. The Welcome we received from the Manager and all the staff was exceptional. They are all trying to do their best whilst improving the premises. The... More

Decided to take a Christmas break and booked with a coach operator for Christmas in Looe. It rained most days but that is not the fault of the hotel. We found the staff to be pleasant and always smiled and/or acknowledged you when passing. I was impressed with the food and enjoyed all the meals. Bathrooms seemed a bit small... More

Stayed at The Portbyhan Hotel last week, found the staff, food and entertainment excellent. Had a superb room overlooking the river. If you are looking for The Ritz this is not for you, but it is a very pleasant seaside hotel. Would definitely stay again!

We booked to stay at the Portbyhan hotel a while ago, and then saw the reviews on tripadvisor. When we saw some of the comments we considered cancelling our reservation. We tried to find somewhere else in walking distance to the town and but everything was full. So we had no choice but to go ahead with our plans. What... More

Having read negative reviews on this website, we were apprehensive about having booked our one night stay here. Now having stayed I can only say that in my experience I found the hotel to be very clean, the staff were friendly and the breakfast was great. The location at the side of Looe river is fantastic. I would definitely stay... More

Our arrival was less than ideal as all maps have this place as being down a tiny, steep little road that when I finally managed to maneuver in had a truck parked in it necessitating an Austin Powers like 20 point turn to escape - only to find it's not even down there! Oh how I laughed. Especially when they... More
