I stayed at this so called "haven" which i soon realised was "hell" for 2 nights in the month of March. I had booked a private room a month in advance but when i got there they had no record of my booking even though I had paid them a booking fee. Luckily there was a room available. The room... More

We took a group of 30 19 year old art students to St.Ives and we all stayed in the Backpackers. The students loved staying in the friendly and creative environment that Samantha and John have created. Some comments from our students: "Very lovely and in a great location to town and some really good food nearby" "Lovely staff and cats!"... More

Considering a bed here is at a very cheap price I'd say the hostel is ok. I have been in other hostels which were a lot cleaner, a lot comfier and a lot nicer in general for just a couple pounds more. I am staying in a 6bed dorm. There is a window, but there are no curtains. No storage... More

We went here as a university surf club and have stayed in a plenty hostels in our time. This was one of the best budget accommodations we've ever stayed in. It's a large hostel with good facilities including a common room complete with TV, sofas, table tennis and a pool table as well as a big well equipped kitchen, outside... More

Where do I begin? I would honestly recommend sleeping rough on the streets of St. Ives over a night in this appalling excuse for a hostel. The only people who should ever have to endure sleeping in this miserable hell hole are prisoners. Quite aptly, it appeared that the owners bought all their beds from a prison as they were... More

I booked a private room, well in advance of my proposed SW Coastpath walk. When I arrived, I was shown the room (cost £39 per night) which had no windows, a bed, no cupboard, coat hooks and hardly enough space to stand my rucsack. When I asked if there was another option, I was told there wasn't, and that I... More

I stayed in this place for two nights and I simply loved it. The price per night was very reasonable for the facilities and the standard provided. To be honest, my time here was more fabulous than for the price I paid. I would highly recommend this place for every young traveler and also for the funky young at heart... More

Do not stay here if your tolerance for dirt is low. We stayed in a private room, which we were warned when we booked had no window. The room was tiny, with a small double bed occupying virtually all the room, made to feel even smaller by the avant garde mural featuring a pervy version of The Owl and the... More

This hostel was highly recommended by a friend who's stayed here on several surfing holidays. In retrospect, I wish I'd remembered that this friend happily lives in a pit of filth. The hostel does seem to get cleaned. The bathrooms were in a pretty decent state - showers full of sand, but that's to be expected in a beach resort.... More
