This hotel room was the worst I have ever used in all my years of travelling. It was dirty, with cobwebs and even a spider body stuck to the wall, we even had to wait whilst the room was prepared. The shower cubicle and bathroom was too small and the mattress had partially collapsed. There was no scope for movement... More

I concur with other reviews that this well located hotel is far less than it should or could be given the price. We stayed there for 3 nights for the long weekend celebrating significant birthdays with local friends. We only had breakfast there which was passable though my poached eggs on the last morning were inedible. The bathroom was shabby,... More

Thank you for taking the time to review us and would firstly like to note that we had no large groups of people staying in the hotel during the time of your stay. The hotel is part of the Coast and Country Hotels, which operates as part of the Shearings group. I apologize if the food was not up to... More

The hotel is in a fabulous location on St Mawes waterfront. Unfortunately that is the best part. This is a Shearings group hotel and obviously a number of the guests were Shearings group customers and really suitable for independent travellers, we had not realised that when we booked. The communal areas are bright and well maintained. Our room was poorly... More

We travelled to Cornwall with Robinsons coaches. Fine trip down and into very comfortable hotel. Food and accomodation very good but hotel lacked space for a decent lounge area and many people had to sit on dining room chairs whilst being entertained on the two nights music shows. Sad to say that water supply to upper floors was very poor... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for your review. I am pleased you rated our food and accomodation as very good, this is important. Our lounge, bar and restaurant is the same area and has over 100 seats. I am sorry to hear about your issues with the water supply. When the hotel is fully, for a short period supply can outweigh... More

Have just returned from a long weekend stay at the Ship and Castle. If your looking for a place with fantastic views, then this is it, right across the river Fal estuary to Falmouth and beyond. The hotel itself is good value for money, its not the best but its not the worst either. I feel that some of the... More

We stayed at this hotel from 25th-29th March. Everything was perfect, from our driver Tony to all of the staff at the hotel. Trips out were excellent and we appreciated all of the local information that Tony passed on to us. Hotel was clean and comfortable and there was a good choice of food on the menus each evening. Just returned from a week in st mawes and stayed at the ship and castle hotel one of shearings coast and country hotels we stayed in room 208 and the view of the quay was well worth the room upgrade tariff but on the negative side the bedroom definately needs refurbishing and the bathroom with no heating was freezing and... The food at this hotel was good and varied, a different half-board menu selection every evening and a special dish too, the a la carte was good value if you wanted to upgrade.Sadly the sunday vegetables were over cooked, mushy sprouts ...yuk. Once The Ship and Castle Inn, and a warren of small fishermen’s cottages (remnants of which can still be seen at the rear of the existing building) The Ship and Castle is now a 55 bedroom hotel with all the charm and character one would expect for its location. Our bar and lounges offer the perfect location for a peaceful day in St Mawes watching the world go by, or enjoying a traditional Cornish Cream Tea.
