staying in car-free Clovelly overnight is a unique experience. Avoid paying the entry fee and be there when the coach trip crowds aren't! Donkeyshoe Cottage is as charming as the name suggests, a friendly B&B. The double bedroom is surprisingly spacious, but the accommodation is a bit scruffy and the bathroom is shared not ensuite. But the price is reasonable... More

You can get a travelodge for the same price per night but you won't get the warm welcome, the comfy beds and the decent breakfast that you get here. Lovely little cottage B&B right on Clovellys steep high street. Comfy and cosey with a very warm welcome from the young couple in charge. Got a real old fashioned feel to the place. Had a superb breakfast.
