Huge reception spaces and grand stairways, but a very small single room, OK for a two night stay but would have felt cramped for anything longer. Adequate bathroom with good hot water supply and towels but a narrow passageway from there to beyond the bed. A built in desk with two drawers, and a small round table made up, with... More

I was I have to say disappointed by the comfort level of this hotel. Admittedly, at the end of March the weather was freezing and wet but that shouldn't mean the bedroom should be likewise. I appreciate the problem of not having double glazing on a listed building, but our suite at the front was absolutely freezing. Firstly, the management... More

I arrived at 9pm to find the car park full. It is very small and I could imagine this happening a lot. There is free overnight parking on the road nearby - but you have to move or begin paying by 8 am. Room was pretty standard, but the windows were in need of replacing. Ate there once, but burger... Friendly, helpful staff. Laundry was returned on day submitted. Food was very good - breakfast and dinner - although small delay when a coach party was also in the restaurant. Ahmed in the restaurant is quite a character. Parking at the hotel was generally fine although car park was small and is full at some times during the day.

Whilst the position of this hotel in the City centre would warrant a premium price this property was a real disappointment. It looked like the old Station Hotel. The decor was tired, the service willing but amateurish and the pricing (for a mid-week overnighter) was very high ...and we had to pay extra for over-night parking and on an open... More

Dear NollyPratt Thank you for taking time to provide feedback on your recent stay and I am sorry that you did not enjoy your stay. We are indeed a Station Hotel, having been built in 1875, however I am sorry to hear that the decor was tired as we have only recently finished a refurbishment programme last year. The Hotel... More

Booked a family room for 2 nights for my wife and I and 8 month old daughter, at a cost of £99 B&B per night, which seemed a good rate for a centrally placed hotel. Arrived after 8pm, plenty of parking still available in hotel car park. Having read reviews was aware of the £8 per day charge, but the... More

Dear MK1978 I am really pleased that you enjoyed the location, the food and the service at the Hotel. I have discussed your comments about the bed sheet with the Head Housekeeper as this should have been identified prior to your visit and retraining will occur with the relevant team member. All of our family rooms are of a great... More

Stayed at this establishment for a cousins wedding, the wedding didn't take place on the premises. Check-in was swift and efficient and I quickly found my room on the 3rd floor. The room was adequate and served its purpose for the three nights. No problems to speak of, but busy on the Friday night. Room service was a little slow,... More

In fact, 'Average' may be a little generous. The good things first; it's in a great location, slap opposite Central station (if that's useful for you?) and on the edge of the historic centre of the city, a few minutes' walk to the 14th-Century Guildhall and the Cathedral (another ten minutes on is the Quayside area). The public areas, especially... More

The most important things I look for is 1) is it clean, 2) do I feel secure and 3) can I get well fed and watered and this hotel scores on all three counts. I ate in the bar which does a reasonable range of snacks. I thought whilst in Devon I ought to try the fish and chips. The... More

This is a beautiful hotel in an excellent location. The accommodation was very clean, comfortable, spacious and well appointed. The staff were very helpful and professional. The breakfast was very good, and the restaurant very pleasant. The parking is quite limited, but there is a public car park nearby. I would definitely visit the hotel again, and have no hesitancy...
