we were kindly upgraded to executive room as it was my husband's birthday. we got back after day out to find bed turned back and chocolates in the pillows. friendly, approachable staff. only negative is lack of enough car parking spaces. local train station only 5 mins walk tho but have to pay to park. Nice small town hotel with lovely garden and dining rooms. The breakfast is excellent (the traditional kippers are superb). They organise slightly eccentric wine tasting and dining evenings which are fun in a group. Overall not too expensive. More

We enjoyed everything about our stay in Lewes: the hotel, the local food, surrounding countryside. Very easy access to Lewes by train from London (book in advance for cheap tickets) and also v. close to Brighton too.
