We stayed for a night in the Mercure to attend a wedding in Winchester. The major strength of this hotel is the location, slap bang next to the cathedral. We stayed two nights whilst touring south England. The staff were very helpful, the location was wonderful, the breakfast and the room with a view of the cathedral were lovely. We had one night at this Mercure. The hotel is very central, next to the very nice cathedral gardens. Some rooms have view on the gardens and the cathedral... The hotel isn't the prettiest, but it has an excellent location and looks onto the cathedral. Comfy bed and decent sized bedroom. Overall, was a very good place to stay and the reception staff were helpful.
