Why this place isn't #1 in Ambleside beats me. Everything about it is superb - room, breakfasts, hosts - can't fault it & the port, chocolate cake & Kendal mint cake are a bonus. Thanks Julie & Nigel - we'll be back.

Absolutley fantastic, recommended by our daughter and will be recommending others now, but this place hits the OMG / WOW factor. The room was spotless complete with homemade cake and Port! as for decoration - well it's something from a magazine. Julie and Nigel deserve all the business and will continue to praise them and their immaculate B&B

Stayed in the Stockghyll room for 2 nights with my wife. Lovely room, lovely Breakfast. Can't fault it at all!
Julie and Nigel were great hosts and made us feel very welcome.
Set at the top end of Ambleside away from the majority of traffic noise and very close to everything we go to Ambleside for.

I treated my heavily pregnant wife to a weekend away before our first child is born in June. We have visited ambleside before but not stayed here. An excellenT b&b with glorious rooms, top notch breakfast and very pleasant owners. Would highly recommend and in the middle of town but away from the traffic noise.

This is a great B&B, located right in the centre of Ambleside, yet tucked away in a lovely spot overlooking the waterwheel. Julie and Nigel were great hosts and made us feel very welcome. The room was spotless and the homemade chocolate cake on arrival and port in the room were a nice touch. Breakfast was excellent, great choice, local...

We have just enjoyed a lovely 3 days at the Waterwheel. Fantastically appointed rooms, great location in the middle of Ambleside but away from the hustle and bustle, tasty breakfast with lots of choice and Julie was a wonderful host - very friendly and helpful. All in all was great break and could not recommend the Waterwheel enough!

We spent six nights here in April 2012 (we had the Loughrigg room) and were extremely happy.
Our request for an early arrival was met without the slightest misgiving and Julie and Nigel were very helpful during our stay as well. The breakfast is very good and there is a more than adequate choice of dishes available. A special mention...

Just returned from my 5th visit to this delightful place and can't wait to book for the next time. Julie & Nigel are always working hard to add new touches to already beautiful bedrooms. The divine roll-top bath in 'Rattleghyll' now has a fancy shower attachment. It's always a pleasure to be welcomed by home-made cake, and the hospitality tray...

I cannot fault this B&B. It was a welcome sight after a 5 hr walk! Julie and Nigel were lovely, not too in your face but there when you needed them. The room was very clean (we stayed in the Loughrigg room), and thoughtful touches such as the decanter of port and kendal mint cake made it even better. I...

We have just spent a perfect 3 nights in the Stockghyll room. We have tried a lot of b&bs in Ambleside and this has to be the best that we have been to. The owners Nathan and Julie are excellent hosts and couldn't of been more helpful. Breakfast was spot on and so was their iron (and ironing board). Can't...
