We always visit here for food when in Whitby. This time a young girl staff member was so rude to our party for absolutely no good reason. We were all shocked at her attitude. Food had been ok but we will never go in again based on this visit. We appreciate it was busy and goth weekend must be stressful for those working but nevertheless this was uncalled for and we will vote with our feet. There are plenty of other places where we can spend our money, and where the staff have more manners.

The views looking out to the harbour are amazing but...... yes a massive but .... the place is filthy massively going down hill ... there was one poor lad on the bar, handing out meals clearing the tables of plates & drinks .. he was really nice... don't think management or owners who ever they are give a monkey's ... I'm surprised environmental health haven't been ... The toilets are disgusting.. or should I say toilet there is only one as the other is bolted up so you cant use it and it's been like that for years... the sanitary bin was overflowing with used pads etc and in the floor ... we won't be returning and we have gone for years!!!!!! It makes me cringe thinking of the toilets .. God knows what the kitchen is like

JUST DONT GO IN AVOID DIRTY SMELLY AND VERY RUDE STAFF.Walked into the pub through a sliding door at the front that should have been a tell tale sign as my hand stuck to the door I'm not sure what was on the door but I went straight to the toilets to wash it off only to be told I couldn't use the toilet if I wasn't buying a drink I explained I was coming back to buy one, but after walking thru the pub to get to the toilets seeing the customers that were in and the staff who seemed to have dogs running around allover then walking into the toilets that were no cleaner than the pub and a customer complaining about his glass being dirty I walked out and won't recommend this place to anyone ,I had to put my clothes in the wash when I got home as I could smell the pub on them like a dirty man's toilet,so who would ever want to eat food in there.

Absolutely amazing food and staff, I had the seafood linguini and honestly the best I have ever had. Extremely generous portions and a beautiful sea view when you sit downstairs. All the food was fresh and made to order.

We made the Big mistake of ordering drinks and food here. Food absolutely awful. I had the Board Inn burger. Greasy horrible chips and vile burger. Bread bun was dry, burger dry and tasteless. We both feel so ill now and may have to make our way to the nearest A&E Department as I suspect we have been food poisoned.

We visited this pub one lunchtime for drinks. It is in an ideal spot with lovely views of the harbour. So we decided to return and have a meal there one evening. Big mistake. We were informed only served food til 7pm which we thought unusual. The meals when they came were awful. We had scampi and the meat filled yorkshire. The chips were ' proper' chips but from when is anyone's guess. Obviously been kept warm for a long time as had the peas, which had lost their colour and become hard. Mash potato was dry and the yorkshire had clearly been microwaved as it was boiling hot. Steam coming off it. The scampi was the only edible part of the meals. End of day food at its worse. So disappointing. The pub looks pretty and inviting from the outside in a beautiful location. What a let down. Avoid eating here. So many pubs etc to choose from in Whitby do not waste your money going here.

It’s the most revolting meal I’ve had in a long time, dry, chips apparently fresh cooked BUT, redeemed only by the smoked salmon. Salad ok. Bottle sauce decanted into paper pots. Over cooked burger. Dirty wine glass. Not advised

Called in for a drink & realised we was in the wrong pub ,we were heading for next door which we swiftly drank up & visited next. Found a table ,which was dirty , staff just walk past with their cleaning cloth & spray instead of actually doing any cleaning, floors are filthy ,dog hairs everywhere, crumbs & food spilt on chairs, cobwebs around windows, etc etc .Avoid !!
