We chose this hotel for a short break on the basis that it was on the road we'd be coming into York on, there was parking, close to the city and the price was good!
The entrance and main foyer were great. The reception were friendly enough. The room, whilst a little tired, was clean but cold (easily solved by...

Very shabby and dirty, booked the hotel and in the photos they looked ok but we were directed to the lodge, this smelt very damp and cold. The en suite was dirty with spiders and a dead fly in the shower.
In the bedroom there was damp up the wall - very old and in desperate need of updating.

Had a 2 night stay in this hotel and found that it was not worth the money paid to stay there. The hotel does not look anything like what it does on the website. The room was very disappointing, as you walked in all you could smell was damp. It was also very dated and didnt appear very clean apart...

Had a 3 night weekend break in the company of another couple. We were a wee bit worried about the mixed reviews but needn't have worried. We all agreed that the hotel was fine for what we wanted - somewhere reasonably priced and not too far from the centre. Yes there were some carrying noises and yes there are some...

The stars on this are for the very helpful employee at the Reception Desk on check-in and the beautiful entry way, bar area, and lounge area. Our room hadn't had attention since the 1970s--either with decoration or with a good cleaning. Cringe-inducing.

For £100 a night we were expecting something a lot nicer...or at least a hotel that had Internet. Our room was absolutely disgusting-- peeling wallpaper, moldy bathroom, dust everywhere (and candy left behind by previous occupants). The beds were fold out with bent legs and other pieces hanging down from the bottom. The furniture was very worn and tattered.

My friend and myself had a short break here, March 26th - 30th, we found the staff very friendly, within walking distance to centre of York, the meals in the hotel were excellent and not overpriced, the only downside we found were the beds were a bit uncomfortable and the shower did not have enough pressure, but all in all...
