A Hotel of great charm and history set in the grounds of the Minster,Grays Court is a first class place to stay and explore the beautiful city of York. The bedroom we stayed in Lady Elizabeth Gray was wonderfully furnished with a very modern bathroom.Breakfast was worth the trip alone and Helen and John are excellent hosts

I have just returned from an overnight stay at Grays Court Hotel with my girlfriend. first point is I would suggest using sat nav as it's not easy to find without it, we arrived at the hotel at midday and in spite of the quoted check in time being 2pm we were shown to our room and allowed to take... A very last minute decision to drop in for a drink and snack, sitting in a delightful spacious garden basking in the sun. Service, food, location all superb. A return trip is needed to better experience its delights. The world is a busy place and to relax within its quiet corner of York was bliss.

I was with my mum and a friend and we popped in here for some lunch. The building is fantastic with a lovely little walk round the quiet surrounding streets and a fantastic courtyard entrance to the building. We sat in the large room at the end of the corridor which was very airy with a high ceiling. I noticed... More

Stayed at easter. Wonderful building and atmostphere, very calming and comfortable.Room excellent , with double ended bath. Would echo earlier reviewer who found it odd that they wont show you the menu for the restaurant, and that"the chef doesnt like to say too much about it". The food when it came it was fine, but have had better. Breakfast also... More

I cannot speak for the actual bed rooms, but the restaurant and public areas just leak history. The decor is totally in keeping with the whole relaxed feeling to the place and the staff were friendly, efficient and just pleasant to engage with. Now for the reason behind the title of my review. I love food and have eaten in... More

I would like to thank you for dining with us, and taking the effort to post your review. I have shared this with Mark and his team, they and all the staff work so hard to get things right, and comments like this are really rewarding. Helen More

Grays Court is exceptional and combines the best of a historic house hotel with the coziness and intimacy of a b&b. The house itself is a fascinating historic building - medieval, Jacobean, Georgian elements all together in a quiet courtyard right next to the York Minster and with a garden that backs on to the historic city wall. I was... More

Booked Grays Court for a couple of nights with my partner as a birthday treat and it exceeded all expectations. Far more beautiful and atmospheric than it appears on the website - it felt as if we were staying in someone's amazing house rather than a hotel. The house itself just oozes style, history and atmosphere and you can roam... More

Only stayed for one night but would have happily stayed for longer! We stayed in the Cumberland suite which was quite fantastic, a good bathroom with large bath and double shower plus good views over the gardens and York walls. The relaxed vibe to this place and homely/almost accidental management style of the owner made it a delight to stay.
