We had 3 nights in Chelmford Place Guest House and it was just a perfect experience - one of our days was wet and we'd been on a historic walk of the city and were damp and chilled, so we just walked back 'home' for a shower and a cuppa in our room - with a biscuit - all provided!... More

I desperately needed somewhere cheap to stay last minute in York. This guest house was absolutely perfect. It was warm and cosy, it was very clean and tidy. I highly recommend Chelmsford Place. Nigel and Wendy are the friendliest hosts and upgraded us for free when there was a longer term booking for our room. We stayed for 3 nights in March 2012. We had a quiet ensuite double bedroom at the back of the house. The room had fitted carpets - that's the only thing I did not like very much. - But that's England....The bathroom had a shower and a bathtub.
