Worst place on our trip through Northumberland & Scotland. The spacious room was above the kitchen, so we'd to suffer from the food smell plus the annoying noise of the cooling units which ran all night. The shower was a tepid trickle, more or less. And the breakfast service was below expectations and under average to what we were used... More

A disaster. The poor staff struggled - and failed. Relatives booked 8 of us in 3 months ago for a family gathering. Between us, we flew/drove 300 miles for a 48 hour visit. We spent over £1,000 on accommodation and food. Dirty, drab, unclean - totally miserable. We froze during the day and were told fires couldn't be lit because... More

Stayed last weekend whilst enjoying the warm weather. From arrival to departure the staff were so friendly and helpful. Apparently there is a new chef, and all I can say is the food was great. We ate both nights in the bar and the food was very tasty, well presented, definately no mass produced meals. The prices of food was... More

I must say I don't agree with all of the negative reiviews. I have stayed at the Hadrian three times while hiking on the wall and it was comparable or superior to other B&B's I booked in Brampton and Boweness-on-Solway. The staff was super friendly (and actually remembered me and my friends from 2 years prior). The food was excellent,... More

As in the title is was intended to suggest to friends and relatives they stay here while attending a family wedding in the area (Oct '11) so we went to see what it was like. General appearance left little doubt the place was tired and bit drab although relatively clean, staff seemed pleasant enough and gave us all the info... More

Very disappointing Sunday lunch - food lukewarm and badly prepared, vegetables raw. Dining room was freezing (no heating at all despite the fact it's December; we all had to leave our coats on) and dark. Very variable portion size, presumably depending on whatever they were running out of in the kitchen. Avoid the mince and dumplings like the plague -... More

Stayed there again last night after a day's salmon fishing on The River (North) tyne. Simple accommodastion; great staff and food was great. The Steak & Ale Pie is a 'must'. Staff are very cheery and helpful. Great bar; plenty of locals to offer opinions on fishing. Good price; jumbo breakfast; thermos filled and a hearty 'Cherio' as we left.... More

Rather picturesque from the outside but fairly traditional and tired décor inside. The welcome at the bar was friendly. The bedrooms were reasonable, if again, a bit tired and traditional. The weakest point was the bathroom. A totally ineffective shower over the bath, soap only available via wall mounted packs in odd places, and an overall bare, Spartan feel. Some... More

We were allocated to stay in the bungalow which upon first appearance looked good - however we missed the clue that there was a dehumidifier running and the room did not have central heating .We arrived wet and departed still damp The beds were damp and cold and even with the heaters provided had little effect on the persistent damp... After a days walking the hotel was a welcome site. Old ivy covered olde world, but good hot food, cozy bar, lots of others to chat to, bathroom and loo basic but clean. Road a bit noisy out front but bed comfy and breakfast great. Packed lunch of baguette etc kept me going all day not bad for £6 More
