Not sure what to write as I like to be objective. Just dont go! This place may have been good when it opened in the1980's but it is now awful. Only thing (and this may be ok for some) good was that the bedroom and linen was clean. Sorry to be so negative but where it is located deserves better.

Stayed a week on a business trip mon-fri. Place is in dire need of some updating, the floor to my room was on a slant for some bizarre reason. The bathroom looked like something from the 70's and had mold growing on the ceiling above the shower, the shower whilst on subject was just a trickle and hard to wash... More

This hotel must rate as the worst ever! I went to Oxford to meet up with old friends and expected to have a good one nights stay. Staff were not unpeasant but the room I stayed in was one of the worst ever! The room was on the ground floor. Very old fashioned, old very small TV ( not good... More

I stayed at Foxcombe Lodge recently; a stay that was booked through work. Upon arrival at shortly after 9pm the bar and reception were already shut so I found my way to my room having been provided with directions left on the reception desk. I should say that the entire downstairs of this pleasant but run down old building is... More

We really enjoyed our stay at the Foxcombe Lodge and ended up staying an extra night. The place had a very authentic feel, and a good vibe. The staff were genuine and the service was excellent. The family room was a good size compared to other hotels we'd stayed at and the added facilities of the bar room and other... More

This hotel should not be allowed to trade! Booked by a colleague through Booking.com, on arrival just 1 other car on car park, not a good sign! Entered the hotel and 1st impression was dated, smelly and awful. The bedroom was disgusting! It had obviously been used before and not cleaned at all, dirty creased bed sheets, filthy, stained toilet,... More

Awful place. Wish we hadn't stayed there. The first thing I noticed when we arrived was the smell of stale chip fat in the reception area. Our room was decorated circa 1982. It was cold and when we went to draw the curtains the end of the curtain pole fell off. The pillows were as flat as pancakes and not... More

Although the staff were friendly enough towards me (well, I did bring a party of 8), I can honestly say it was extremely disappointing. The bed was just about ok, the rooms were clean enough but they haven't been renovated for 40 years judging by their condition. My shower was a complete joke, and although I complained about it, and... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Since 1985 we have been providing a warm & comfortable welcome in our two star family run hotel. We believe in treating our customers as friends and making every effort possible to make their stay relaxed and enjoyable. The owners have been in the hotel trade for many years and more than they'll admit to. They believe that a traditional and friendly atmosphere is far more important than clean plastered white walls. If you're after a 'yes sir - no sir' service with everything white and gleam, then this is not the place for you. The hotel offers an F1 themed bar, a club bar, restaurant, lounge, South facing gardens with patio, pool table / games room and free unlimited Wi-Fi (as it should be). ... more   less
