Stayed for 4 nights in March. Staff and service excellent but room in serious need of updating. TV poor need new flatscreens. Bathroom disgusting , cracked washbasin and bath/shower grouting dirty and coming off, shower very inefficient, poor flushing toilet. (our survey form shows) The food was typical cheap catering food, or was it poorly cooked? More

I stayed in this hotel in May for four nights, The basic menu the was quite good no need to pay extra for selected items the public rooms had been upgraded the bedroom less so although it had a very good t.v. for a hotel, a number 2 bus from near the station stops just outside the hotel. Booked a last minute Shearings visit... Well worth it. The hotel is well run with friendly and efficient staff, a lovely dining room, good food, clean bedrooms. Like many of Shearings hotels, a lick of paint wouldn't go amiss but overall I' d recommend this hotel if visiting Bath. The only slight drawback is the hotel is situated at the... More

The Lansdown Grove Hotel has a great potential: the decor and location are great and it's easily accessible from the train station. However, I have to say that the double ambassador is slightly dissapointing: the room heating was broken, our window was obstructed by slabs, breakfast (included) was served between 8 and 10 (way too early). I would expect to... More

Dear Carine B I am sorry to hear you were disappointed with your room. The majority of our customers seem happy with the 8 till 10 breakfast service as it gives them an opportunity to get out and about to discover this great city. As stated in our room information pack should anyone require a late check out ,please let... More

Some factors to consider- the price I paid for a "superior" room was 187 GBP, higher than listed on tripadvisor. - the hotel is clean and simple. Bed was comfy, room was a decent size. Can't complain about that. - the price we paid should have got us more. This is not a charming place. It has about 90 rooms,... More

I booked two nights in this hotel and when I arrived after a difficult journey I was given a poky, single bedroom, very dated and tatty. After explaining that I thought I had booked a double room I was told I had made a mistake in my booking and couldn't change as the hotel was booked. I had to get... More

Dear Caroline H Sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your two night break with us but as you can see from the many positive reviews before this is very much a rare occurence. Upon checking the booking which you had made online, you had booked a single room which is what you were allocated. The receptionist could not move you on... More

Stayed here in December visiting Bath for its Christmas Market. Hotel is exceptional value with evening meal included in the price. You can't get a B&B in Bath for that price. My single room was the biggest and most nicely appointed I have stayed in. The public rooms are all nicely decorated with lovely fabrics, and the Christmas decorations were... More

Dear Jazzcatjan Thanks for your lovely comments it's great to read that you have decide to return to the Lansdown. The Lansdown Grove Hotel is a great base to see Bath and all the surronding areas. Next time you are here why not visit the newly refurbished Holburne Museum which is free. Regards Jane More

We have recently returned from a Shearings break to the Lansdown Grove and had a fantastic time. In particular many thanks to our coach driver Phil who made our holiday by going out of his way to be helpful and informative and going the extra mile. The Lansdown Grove is a lovely old hotel, the decor is dated but this... More

We have stayed at several Shearings hotels and this is the best so far. The food was good, and enough not to leave the table feeling hungry (The Savoy, Bournemouth). The restaurant was well set out, so we did not feel as though we were eating in a canteen (St Ives Bay); the staff were friendly and helpful. We had... More

Dear TheValients Thanks for your review it was nice to see you thought the Lansdown was the best you have visited so far. As to the heating of the hotel this isn't an area we normally have any issues. Hopefully any problems you had don’t happen again. You will be pleased to know the duvets are on their way !... More
