We came here on our "Golden ticket" deal from The Peel Hotel Group, we go with friends every year, The Caledonian didn't let us down. The upgraded room was so comfy, huge comfy bed, fridge, drinks cookies and even a pack of crisps for those late night munches. The bathroom was extremely well fitted out with a range if very... More

I've stayed here for business approximately once a year for the last 7 years - both for an overnight stay and use of conference facilities. Other comments on here confirm that it is somewhat dated however it's currently undergoing a refurb'. The staff are always helpful and pleasant with nothing being too much trouble and also happy to join in... More

We were in Newcastle for a family party and booked into the Caledonian Hotel for one night. Positives:- Check in was quick The room was clean and comfortable The bathroom was clean Negatives:- There was an incessant and very loud buzzing sound outside our room from approximately 1am to 5am it was disruptive even to me, a heavy sleeper. Visited Tuesday 26/02/13@ 3pm. We didn't stay in the hotel, we simply had a Champagne afternoon tea for two using a Groupon voucher. I'm in a wheelchair, we parked at the back of the hotel and they have a ramped entrance for disabled access. The dining room was peaceful and had six other couples in. The music was unobtrusive and... More

A comfortable hotel close to the Metro and the city centre, executive room with a great bathroom and also good food. The dining room service was first class. This hotel was ideally situated for a weeend in " Toon " , Jesmond is a lively area with tree lined streets. Had a great stay.

Nice public areas and great base for Jesmond and Newcastle. Service is good - Rooms are still dated considering the decor in rest of the hotel which is extremely modern. I really think they should invest some cash in sprucing up some of the rooms. They dont look at all like the pictures but it doesnt put me off staying... More

We did the Groupon Champagne Afternoon Tea and really enjoyed it. The afternoon tea consisted of salmon, ham and egg sandwiches. Each person received a cheese and fruit scone. The scones were served warm and were very nice. The cakes were also lovely. I was worried about the champagne, given the price but it was lovely. I would definitely recommend... More

Stayed here with 3 friends as part of my birthday weekend away. The hotel itself is ok - fairly nice reception, pleasant enough staff, kind of central location etc but it isn't really any better than ok - the rooms were adequate for one night but the decor was dated, small tv and the bathrooms were not well equipped i.e....
