Having stayed at The Keelman many times in the last few years, this was another return visit while visiting the area on business. The rooms in the Lodge where I usually stay are adequately sized for a couple and everything is clean and fresh. The hospitality tray could be seen as a meal in itself – four packets of very... More

We stayed here for our first night out on the wall walk. We had a lodge room which was quite spacious. Large towels, good water pressure with plenty of hot water. Bar soap and shampoo furnished. Flat panel TV which was too small for the room, free wifi in the room, writing desk. Clean room with a comfortable bed. More

Stayed here two years ago while walking Hadrians Wall. Sufficiently impressed to come back & use it as a base for a couple of days whilst visiting the Newcastle area. Again not dissapointed, spacious quiet room in one of the lodges, stacks of parking & an excellent inclusive breakfast. Excellent pu & pub restaraunt adjoins accommodation. More

Lovely place to stay by the river Tyne. The pub onsite is attached to the Big Lamp Brewery and have some very nice real ales that are well priced. There is an ale there that is 11% proof but i dare not try it! The food in the restaurant is quite good although I thought that the breakfasts, while great,... More

We, like many others, have been going to this pub because of its good ale and food. So when we turned up on Sunday the pub was heaving as we'd come to expect. However what we didn't expect is the considerable hike in the price of a Sunday lunch since we last visited 6 months ago and the reduced food... More

We have frequented this local pub for many years especially for the beer and pleasant outdoor space. We have eaten from time to time both snacks and restaurant meals mainly when with family because that's the kind of menu offered. However this weekend we were seriously disappointed- well actually disgusted. We went to order paninis only to find they don't... More

My partner and I visited the pub and restaurant mid-week looking forward to some tasty food after a hard day at work. We had both eaten here twice previously and the food was really nice so we were expecting good food again. When we arrived the bar area was fairly busy so we decided to head straight for the restaurant... More

We met up with some friends for a pint of the famous Big Lamp ales and were not diappointed. The pub is large and has a friendly atmosphere. There are many delicious ales to try, so I would recommend purchasing a tasting tray. You get a tray of six smallish samples allowing you to try what's on offer.....great idea! We... More

The service was far to slow, waited almost 40 minutes for our food order to be taken even though it wasn't that busy. The portions seem to be a lot smaller than usual and the prices have increased, not value for money anymore. One good point the ales served are as good as ever but a real dissapointment in what used to be good...
