I stayed at the Edgbaston Palace for an overnight stay prior to a business trip. The hotel looked good in the pictures but inside the room I was given was tatty. Dirty marks on the walls dirty carpets and tired looking furniture. The bed was not particularily comfortable In this day and age internet should be free, not here! On a... More

Had to come to birmingham for the birth of our grandson. Stayed in the hotel opposite, booked 2 nights-stayed one, disgusting. Booked here for three nights. Asked for a disabled room, and were given a ground floor room, next to the restuarant, ideal for us. The room was clean, fairly large, and with a wet room you dont find in many more expensive hotels. Staff were friendly... More

Stayed here for three weeks, and i also found the staff, especially the manager rude and totally unprofessional, room ok i suppose for a budget hotel,no thermostat on mixer shower so be warned, either not hot enough or scalding, noise bad from other rooms, extractor fans in bathrooms sound like a train, back of hotel really is rat infested waste ground, but the worst thing was the breakfast,... This is without doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and that includes some third world hostels I stayed at during a gap year! Where to start. I arrived at the hotel after a long day to be greeted by probably the rudest person ever to sit behind a hotel reception desk- a miserable sod who i later... More

Stayed for 3 days last week; it was fine but a bit dull. Easy to find in the Hagley road, close to Edgbaston where I was based for the meetings. Car park overflows into adjacent hotel so ok. Reception very willing and check-in speedy although they wanted payment upfront, even though I'd reserved by credit card. Room was clean, a... More

Stayed in May, but the trauma of staying remained so thought I'd add my experience. Small, musty, cramped rooms, breakfast adequate. Used Groupon voucher - but only after booking told one person could not book 3nights in a row under their name, but could have rooms booked under different peoples names. So we did this. First night stay was fine,... More

Normally stay elsewhere, but needed cheap bed for night while visiting student son; our normal hotel choices were fully booked . Reception staff did not acknowledge us when we arrived. There was a list of things we couldn't do, such as bringing extra guests into your room, or bringing food and drink from outside the hotel (we had hoped to... More

Just returned from a family 70th Birthday meal at the Edgbaston Palace Hotel. Would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a venue only a mile or so from the city centre... Food was from a set menu but the three course meal was good - The room looked recently renovated and bar reasonably priced. More

Stayed overnight in December at short notice. Room very clean and good location and easy access to the centre. Breakfast was cooked to order, I had scrambled eggs with salmon much better than many of the breakfasts I have had in more expensive hotels. I would recommend this for a short stay. More

Booked a room at short notice, room very good with generous sized bathroom etc etc (but why loose wires hanging out of ceiling?). Evening meal good value (just as well as nothing else within walking distance). Wine list good, excellent selection of spirits and a very good draught bitter. Breakfast very good. If your passing through it would be fantastic... More
