The Riverbarn is currently by far the best place for food in the area. The owners are friendly, the wine excellent and the food sublime! We have had meals here that have far surpassed Michelin standard and the quality is consistent. It is wonderful to have such a place in our rural area. Why go further afield. Excellence on the... We tried this restaurant recently and feel that though the owners are trying hard they have not mastered the art of fine dining. Starters of Chicken liver pate were quite tasty but served on tea plates demonstrated a lack of finesse! Main course of Pork was passable but the fondant potato was undercooked and needed longer slow cooking to achieve... More

I could not believe the Riverbarn's incredible value for money award winning dining experience. Michelin star quality at a fraction of the price. The best food I have eaten for a long, long time - A fantastic risotto to die for and the mussels in a local 'Wessex' cider was out of this world. I cannot find enough words to... More

We stayed here on the way to a family gathering in Bournemouth. The service was excellent and the room was clean and comfortable. The price for bed and breakfast was very reasonable. We also had an evening meal which we hadn't booked but was offered to us when we got there. Not cheap but excellent quality and well worth it.

The previous reviews don't do this place justice. The rooms are excellent and they now serve evening meals Thursday to Saturday. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and food was fantastic and really good value. Jon Sutcliffe the chef has previously worked in Michelin star restaurants and this certainly showed in the food he cooked. This is a... More

We have just returned from a one night break, staying in The Riverbarn. A lovely place to stay, it was peaceful and private, with medium sized, comfortable bedrooms. Breakfast was good and relaxing (though full english had to be ordered by the night before), consisting of a full english, patisseries, yoghurts, a selection of fruit (pineapple, melon and kiwi) and... We stayed here on our way down to Cornwall as a one-night stopover, so weren't really expecting much. Many other places in the ficinity were fully booked, however, The Riverbarn was almost dead as the Bistro is closed to the public in the evenings, this meant there was no atmosphere about the place. However, the food was excellent, well prepared... More

We stayed at the Riverbarn on 10th September 2010 luckily only for one night. It is described as having a FULL breakfast - this actually consisted of a croissant each, a choice of 3 cereals or an Activia yogurt - I'm no chef but even I could have produced this. We asked if it was possible to have a cooked... More
