We stopped off en-route to Carmarthanshire, and my wife found this heavenly hotel. We had tea and a sandwich each. The fillings were plentiful and tasty - plus the staff and atmosphere were first class. We will be back. More

The Angel is a special hotel for my family and has been for over 50 years, long after my parents first stayed there in the 1950s and are now both 'long gone' themselves. Last Saturday someone special in my life and two very good friends ate in The Angel for my birthday dinner. It was superb from start to finish... More

It's probably the excellently trained staff that make this place so pleasant to stay in. The feeling that eyes are on you, not to see what you are doing, but to see that your needs are being met. We enjoy the fact that we could mingle with the locals in the bar, and be offered the same menu as the... More

Yes, it’s expensive. We stayed in one of refurbished rooms (very pleasant but alas a little noisy) that go some way to justifying the cost. However if you go for the Gourmet break package this starts to make sense. A complimentary taxi to the Walnut Tree for a sublime dinner and a second evening at the hotels own good restaurant... More

Stayed on a Thursday and booked very last minute. Parking was easy. We were offered a free upgrade to a very nice double room which appeared to have been recently renovated and the decor was very nice. The bed was very comfy and with lots of soft pillows. The room was also very quiet with a large bathroom with seperate... More

We had a stay here a few weeks ago and the Hotel is very dated. We spent alot of money here and was very dissapointed. Staff are in there own world and very slow service and the room was in need of a facelift. We wouldn't return here and if you have more money than sense then you will probably... More

Dear Guest, I am sorry you were disappointed with your stay; however I wish you had made you points known to reception so we could have rectified the problems. The hotel has been undergoing extensive refurbishments for the past 10 years and will continue with further refurbishments for another 5 years. As the building is very old, this all takes... More

I had a very similar experience to Ciren with respect to the room - probably the room next door since mine side elevation & quiet, Stayed at The Angel on 16th April. Got a twin despite booking a double. Same 80's decor, beds on castors, bedding, no bedside table.Uncomfortable mattress so poor night's sleep despite being less than 6ft. Sink... More

Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your valuable feedback. I am sorry to learn you were disappointed with your guestroom and the size of the crème brûlée, yet pleased to learn the staff were all friendly and unobtrusive. Booked one of their package deals to include a meal at the Walnut Tree restaurant on the Friday, including a taxi each way and a champagne tea on the Sunday. We also had dinner in their own restaurant on the Saturday night. It was excellent, everything they arranged went very smoothly and the food in both restaurants was very good.... More

Great Value Sunday lunch (circa £19 for 2 courses) Very very good standard and the Wedgewood Room (main dining room) is a lovely setting. Looks like the owners have spent some money recently and the hotal looks really fresh and clean. Serrvice can be a little slow(ish) but not frustratingly so. Well priced wine list (Chablis Premier Cru Fourchamps =... More
