If I wanted cheap nasty frozen food I would of went to freezer shops myself !!! Menu said fresh battered haddock i received frozen battered fish ? Asked for soup was told no soup today ? Asked for haggis bites as starter ... they arrived still frozen Kids sausages were full of herbs he couldn’t eat it along with his COLD beans ( not even heated) We actually left hungry as nothing on menu met standards Lady that was serving was really apologetic. We were the only table in for lunch .. that should of made me think twice . Won’t be back and do not recommend Sorry !!

We booked a triple room and it was FAR too small for three people. One bed was actually a fold out sofa, the other two were like sleeping on bed springs with little cushion. When i enquired as to the time of the advertised breakfast, i was advised that there was a poker party to be held in the pub and she would be working far too late for her to get up and fix us any breakfast. Despite this being advertised as a B and B, there was no breakfast either morning -nor was their a reduction in the tariff to accommodate this difference. We also had to wait a long time before anyone appeared to show us our room despite notifying them of our arrival. I understand there was a shortage of staff (only one person), nevertheless there were just too many problems to give this venue a good rating.

I am sorry you were not happy at the Zoar Guesthouse, but I can assure you that we are advertised as a Guesthouse, and our prices are room only which is stated at time of booking, Breakfast when available is provided at a £5 cost per person, during this period it was not available but there was fruit , tea/coffee & biscuits in the room and a Microwave in the hall with cutlery etc if guests need something hot in the morning, as for the beds well I am unable to understand your problem all others rate them highly as for the sofa bed it is a very comfortable expensive bed and again has been very appreciated, your waiting time to get taken to your Room was 10 minutes and this was due to Valerie having to deal with meals at that time, you would wait this time or longer in any establishment. As for the Room being at the front of the building and noisy if you read other reviews then you will see that this is not a problem for others. I am Glad that our cleanliness was up to your standards at least we managed to get that correct

Had a very pleasant stay with Ben and Val on a trip to play golf in the area with friends. On arrival Ben showed us to our room which was located in the extension to the main building,The room while quite small was well furnished with comfortable beds, large wardrobe, sofa, tea and coffee and a flat screen t.v the bathroom was spotless with large fluffy shower towels. Breakfast was an old English or they were quite prepared to cater to whatever you requested the night before. Dinner in the bar which was very traditional in decor was, was reasonably priced and varied to suit all tastes. All in all a most enjoyable stay and i would recommend anyone looking to stay in the Forfar area to check out this establishment i guarantee you will not be disappointed.

Booked in at short notice for an overnight whilst attending a local party. Lovely warm welcome. Beautiful room, loved the decor.Clean, well equipped including tea and coffee facilities. Modern ensuite. Forgot to order breakfast but they turned to and provided it at short notice.Loved their provision of books, magazines, dvds and cds outside the room. Little hint.....I couldn't work out the tv controls, couldn't find an eject button for the cd.lol. I will definitely stay again!! (If you need a taxi...book in advance.....we walked miles in the early hours of the morning to get back as taxis were not available).

My wife and I stayed at the Inn whilst visiitng friends. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Val and shown to our room. The room was very well kept and perfect for our needs. Val explained everything that we needed to know. The breakfast was great and more than enough. Ben, who served us, was very friendly and told us a little bit about Forfar. We stayed at the Inn for 6 nights and the service we recieved was excellent throughout. We used the resturant during the evenings and the food was excellent. Overall it was a very pleasant stay in the Inn and Val and Ben are excellent hosts who make you feel at home. I would definately recommend the Inn to anyone who needs somewhere to stay. Thank you Val and Ben for making our stay memorable.

We had an unexpected stay at the Zoar Inn in Forfar after snow cut our journey short. Trundled in out the snow and greeted by Valerie who got us a double room which was very well presented and spotless. Despite our late and unannounced arrival, exception to the normal food service hours were made and we were able to order 2 meals which were good hearty pub meals. Overall, highly recommend this place for a good place to stop over whether planned or unplanned.

My wife and I stayed here recently at short notice after a bereavement after travelling up from liverpool. Our hosts valerie and benefits made us feel so welcome as soon as we arrived. Our room was perfect, clean, warm, well equipped with the adjoining Inn a very welcoming place to relax after our long journey. Valerie was lovely and so helpfully when we spoke with her to arrange a further booking for the following week. I would strongly recommend zoar guesthouse and Inn for anyone visiting forfar, the location facilities and most importantly for me, the hospitality we experienced from valerie and ben and not to mention the lovely fiona made a solemn visit to forfar special

We booked the Zoar Inn for 2 nights (9th/10th August). We had the twin room which was very neat and clean and comfortable. Although its part of a pub we heard little or noise from the pub. Hosts very friendly. Forfar a surprisingly nice wee place and ideal for getting out for our day in nearby Glen Clova and Glen Doll. All in all a nice weekend. thanks. the only thing I would say is that (although the website did make it clear the breakfast was extra) that we've stayed in other similar places where the breakfast is included for the same price.

We stayed for one night and the room was clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are in an annexe so no noise from the pub. There was some traffic noise from the nearby road in the morning. The landlady and landlord were friendly. The room information stated that they didn't mind people bringing in takeaways and a microwave, plates and cutlery were provided. I think that this would be very useful for families travelling with young children - great idea.

We recently stayed 1 night at the Zoar Guest House. We booked ahead, and on arrival were a little worried about the noise from busy Brechin Road. Our worry proved unfounded as the noisy traffic stopped after peak hour. Our room was very clean and a reasonable size, the bed was very comfortable, somewhat unusual in the UK in our experience. We had dinner in the adjoining Inn; the food was 'interesting'. A good full English breakfast was included in the room charge.
