After reading an article online that rated The Howard as one of the top ten places to have afternoon tea in Edinburgh I decided to book it as a birthday treat for my friend. Whilst filling in the online booking form I specified that my friend is vegetarian and doesn't eat eggs (on The Howard website they state that they... More

The Howard is conveniently located in the heart of Edinburgh. There is private car parking facilities at the rear of the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted with very polite and friendly staff who made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. The butler service was superb and they also gave us some very good suggestions on things to do and... More

Lets start with the good bits. Location and decent pubs nearby and you will need them as the food is terrible. This is my first ever review and I felt compelled to do this to help people avoid this hotel and to ensure you can enjoy your stay in Edinburgh. The food is appalling and they have a habit of... Having booked I then received an email from one of the Butlers offering to help with any needs we may have. On speaking I was given lots of information which clearly would help us maximise the short time we had. I was also sent the Howard Guide to Restaurants which is well worth a read as it lists all the... More

The Howard lived up to my vision of how lovely it would be to have a butler while staying on a charming street in Edinburgh. Upon our arrival our car was effortlessly whisked away to a complimentary parking lot while our bags were delivered to our room. We were seated in a cozy and beautifully decorated sitting room where we... More

Can't speak to the rest of the hotel services but had a lovely afternoon tea at the Howard. Service was excellent and very friendly. We arrived a little late in the day so they sat us in the library and told us we could have the room as long as we liked so we wouldn't feel rushed in the tearoom... More

My husband and I stayed for three nights in February and had a fabulous time. The customer service is excellent, nothing is too much trouble and it was a real treat to be brought complimentary tea and coffee to your suite at the press of a button. We really enjoyed the breakfast, especially the "full scottish" - perfect for setting... More

We stayed here again (2nd time) in April just for one night in the terrace suite. Everything about The Howard is just perfect for us. The staff are so lovely and they make you feel that you are the most important person in the world. Be warned - it is very difficult to get out of bed in the morning... More

Another perfect review for The Howard and I am most grateful to this guest for their kind words concerning every aspect of the hotel. I will look into whether we can indeed add furniture comfortably and safely to the terrace, and in the meantime, I look forward to welcoming this guest again to The Howard. My husband and I stayed at the Howard for 3 nights...and although the service was great, the hotel requires some repairs and upkeep. The hotel boasts 'butler service'...but aside from very helpful staff...especially 'Roy'..there was no butler service. Beds very comfortable and great location...but be prepared to haul your own bags up the front stairs and there certainly was no... More

We stayed at The Howard for 2 nights in a Junior Suite - Charlotte. We were warmly greeted when we arrived and taken to the Drawing Room and given a pot of tea and shortbread while our bags were taken to our room and our car parked. It was the most wonderful experience to stay in such an old worldly... More
