Really nice guest house about 20min walk from Edinburgh centre. Stayed here at the end of a cycle trip over the May bank holiday weekend - made to feel very welcome. Rooms really nice and lovely breakfast in the morning.

I can't recommend the Ashlyn Guest House enough- it was so nice to have a homey touch in a big city. The Ashlyn was just out of the hustle and bustle of city center- but close enough to easily get to everything you'd want to see- plus you are right next to the Royal Botanical Gardens and just across the...

Our stay here was lovely. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good, we were able to get a veggie friendly meal rather than the regular fare. There is a bus stop across the street which takes you downtown in about a 10 minute drive and the botanical gardens is just a...

After traveling from York, where we had a nice, but small b&b, this was a pleasant surprise. The family room was extremely spacious, and well appointed. Although we had to cross the hall to use the bathroom, it was a private bath, and again very spacious. Room was clean, breakfast filling with options, and location overall was good. Although not...

We enjoyed our weekend at the Ashlyn.
The main things were good: clean rooms; comfortable bed; good breakfast choice and cooking; good location for Botanic Gardens and still quite close to centre of town: public transport only yards from front door.
The only suggestion I would make is that a bit of net curtain would offer some privacy without blocking...

Trying to find a B+B close to a colleague's house,I found this Guest House via the internet. As a solo traveler you come to expect that there will be an extra cost and potentially increased inconvenience. This was not the case at the Ashlyn which offers single rooms,
The proprietors were welcoming and very pleasant, and because the House was...

I stayed for 10 days working at Inverleith park for Walk The Walk MoonWalk breast awareness cancer charity. Long days, hard work. Each evening back to Ashlyn. I enjoyed the very friendly feel to this house. Both Lindsey and Peter made me feel welcome and made a hard working job and time away from my family so much easier. A...

My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. The room was good and we had a private bathroom which was spacious and well appointed. Fresh towels each day. Breakfast was excellent and there was a large lounge for the use of guests.

Very well kept Georgian House, rather too well kept perhaps. The original single-glazed windows could do with double-glazing, at least to the street-side.
Very well cooked breakfast, very good fresh fruit-salad, but nothing extraordinary. Nice rooms, very clean, but small bathrooms. Room 6 even with tiny bathroom and extremely narrow shower, even for my 55 kg friend. Very friendly and...

Hi - thanks for taking the time to review our guest house and we're sorry you found the bathrooms small. We do try to use the space in the house as best we can - however in an old Georgian house, space (and plumbing!) is limited, hence the more compact facilities in some rooms. Please note however that we do...
