Stayed here during a business trip, found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Room was very clean, breakfast was very tasty and included haggis which was great for an ex-pat like me. Would definitely stay again. Got a very good price for this hotel through booking.com. More

We tayed at the King James Thistle for a long weekend (Fri/Sat/Sun) when we visited our son who is resident near Edinburgh. We chose it because of its closeness to Waverley Station (only 3/4 minutes via the Waverley Steps escalator). Out rail package put us on a late afternoon return so it was also convenient to leave our bags until... More

I recently stayed at this hotel on a business trip and was genuinely impressed. The rooms are comfortable, the location is ideal for the City Centre, the staff are very friendly, the breakfast is excellent and all in all the hotel offers tremendous value for money. Would thoroughly recommend and will stay there again More

Had a nice stay at this hotel. Good rooms, neatly decorated, comfy beds, not so good views from the back of the hotel but the location makes up for it, Very good breakfast is available each morning on 2nd floor. Prices are reasonable for this location. Staff were very helpful at front desk and even to the point of immediate... More

We had a lovely welcome from this hotel and also a lovely goodbye we really enjoyed it there. The rooms are very nice old style furnishings only down side no aircons however they have a cieling fan. We would recommend this hotel. The location is fabulous below the shopping mall and near all main shopping areas. More

Had to go 4 times back to reception before my key card would work. This hotel is tired and needs money spent on it. It is clean, Rooms are ok, Towels not great. Lifts shakey and slow. Staff nice. Bar very expensive £ 15 for glass of wine and toasted tuna sandwich.... it was a glass now and not the... More

Stayed at the King James for a couple of nights back in February having found an excellent room only deal on-line with Alpha Rooms. The hotel is 5 mins walk from the station using the new exit/entrance on Princes Street. We had a very nice room at the back of the hotel where it was quiet. A couple of minuses:... More

After getting off the train from London, we weren't looking forward to a long walk to the hotel. We thought it was at least a 20 minute walk, going by the map, but were really surprised that the hotel was just opposite the station. It is also next door to the John Lewis shopping centre, but don't spend too much... More
