Having admired the new decor I was keen to try this pub as I had heard some good reports. I am glad to say that the food is excellent and they have done a really good job of doing up the pub. It was warm, friendly and welcoming. There were four of us and I can honestly say that although... More

This pub has been taken over by new management and has been recently refurbished. It looks great now and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere. We have eaten there several times this year and the menu has changed recently. It started as a gastro pub menu and has now gone back to a more pub grub type menu which is still... More

This pub has had a complete overhaul and has a lovely authentic Scottish country feel. I have been in to eat a number of times since the refurbishment and have been delighted with the service and meal each time. The new chefs are very talented and have replaced pub grub with inventive and delicious gastro pub quality dishes. The Riccarton... More

Read between the lines of other reviews!!I have now eaten in the pub over a dozen times and whilst it can be busy on the weekends the food is always excellent and the service first rate. The menu is first class and we enjoy it greatly.

As a bar this place is fine. For food its abysmal. Been coming for years and was always happy. Now under new management the only improvment has cosmetic. The food looks fancy, states of nothing lacking any quality to it. I've had better meals for 1/4 of the price in a cafe. Not had my meal as specified/ requested either... More

With limited choice of eatery around this area this is a great find. It offers a traditional pub grub menu without the fast food fare so often served these days. Hearty portions of fresh homemade food satisfied our group of adults, teenagers and a toddler. There is a varied choice on the children’s menu and high chairs are available. An... More

My friends and I popped into the Riccarton arms for lunch whilst visiting Heriot Watt. Very glad we chose to stop here because the food was excellent, very well priced in a traditional setting. The bar / restaurant has a very warm and friendly atmosphere in it where I would happily have spent the day if we weren't just in... More

I would recommend a meal or a drink at the Riccarton Inn. The place has recently been refurbished. We dined in the bar last night. The place has a traditional style, which I like, Bar dining area consists of high-backed booths, ideal for couples and friends. The menu is also new with some some pleasant surprizes on it. Great tasting... More

Since the refurb last year, the place is looking great. The food is lovely and a reasonable choice, though quite pricey (£8.50 for macaroni and garlic bread). My husband had fish pie which was delicious but lacked some veg on the side. Good choice for the kids- please put macaroni cheese back on their menu! A great local to have... More
