The Glenallan Guest House (Now Known As The Cresent) (19 Mayfield Road, Edinburgh) Arrived there at Midday, had to ring the doorbell for about 10 minutes before someone came and answered. We were greeted by a young woman in her Dressing gown and PJ's. Upon arrival we were told that we couldnt check in until 3pm. Rooms were nice looking,... More

We arrived without booking, were made to feel very welcome, and greeted with a smile. The room was excellent, well appointed, and very clean and comfortable. When we travel to Edinburgh again, we would certainly stay at the Glenallan, and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. More

Just back from Edinborough and we stayed in the Glenallen for 2 nights (its too long a story) but anyway I would agree with most of the other travellers who stayed there. Rooms were nice on this occasion and in fairness we were put up at short notice having been given the runaround by another hotel group. Scottish breakfast was... More

Unlike the other reviews we found this place very nice! The rooms are spacious, well decorated beautiful set, bathrooms renovated, the house prepared breakfast, warm welcome, the owners friendly, smiling and ready to give all possible services, the location off, even though in the neighborhood all beds years breakfasts, which allows for quiet nights and relaxing, and the price honest... Although the location is good, and the house clean, the staff are lazy and rude and clearly do not wish to have guests in their guest house. They just want to take your money and do nothing!! first of all they tried to over charge us as we'd paid a deposit - they tried to charge us the whole amount.... More

DO not stay here if you can avoid it!! Not worth the money at all!! Please take note that i did see the reviews but thought it would be worth the try but it is not! The main problem with this accommodation is the staff- they are unhelpful and rude. When we arrived to check into our room for the... More

We had read good reviews,so we booked this guesthouse 4 months in advance. Our experience from start to finish was a nightmare. On arrival, our "host", was surprised to see us, denied our booking and only after being shown confirmation, conceded, with bad grace, that we could stay. She then insisted in full payment in advance. The room had no... More

I booked this B&B for my first wedding anniversary seven months before our stay in September. Through the booking website I paid a deposit and received my confirmation for the reasonable 60 pound per night room. We love B&Bs for the cosy atmosphere and usually great breakfast. I had booked so far in advance because I knew it was the... More

Room not entirely clean and minor repairs required. Small children running around. Immutable smell of cooking. Inflexible breakfast arrangements and no cooked food provided. Miles from town. Price during Edinburgh festival really taking the mickey. Feels like a shabby boarding house. More
