I stayed at this Guest House for 7 nights just prior to Christmas 2011. This property represents excellent value for money. The bed (and pillows) were very comfortable and were made up in crisp white sheets. My bed was changed during my stay without my request and the bathroom was always spotless. There was ample room to hang my clothes... More

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend and we had a really lovely time. Very friendly owners, felt really welcomed and like any questions would be no problem at all. Room warm and clean, with excellent shower. Cooked breakfast very good and prompt, including a vegetarian cooked breakfast. A little bit outside of town, but an easy and... More

I stayed in the Smiths Guest House for almost three weeks for work purposes. Very cozy, clean and warm. Big rooms with all the conditions you need to spend a great time in Edinburgh. It is located in a beautiful and quiet neighbourhood in the South of the the city, near the University's science campus. If you like to walk,... More

I've recently spent three nights at Smiths Guesthouse when visiting my student son and would definitely recommend. I stayed in room 7 which had a really comfy bed and a spotlessly clean en suite shower room. The location was perfect with buses outside giving easy access to the city centre. Free parking available as well on the street next to... More

Excellent value. Friendly, helpful. Room pleasant, clean and quiet. Full breakfast (including coping with gluten free requirement) - delicious bacon! Very accommodating as we had to arrive very late and later leave our luggage to pick up after we had checked out. Bus service goes straight into city - though it was a nice day so we chose to walk! You won't be disappointed with your stay at Smiths Guest house - As a single female on a business trip, i felt safe and comfortable in my twin room on the second floor of the large Edwardian guest house. A warm welcome by Neil (owner) and a 3 night stay in an immaculate and well prepared room with white crisp... More

Stayed for 2 nights in early September and found this place a home from home. We've always had difficulty finding our ideal b and b in our favourite city, but we've finally hit the jackpot. Lovely welcoming hosts, nice rooms, easy parking, great breakfasts, fab shower, quickly in and out of the city. Also nice pubs nearby, a newsagent across... More

When we first went into the guest house, the smell of the dog was very evident. To be fair the dog is mentioned on the website, but not the dog hairs on the carpet or the lingering smell. I happen to like dogs, but not smelly ones. We were taken up two flights of stairs , the second was narrow... More
