This was a lovely hotel in the centre of St Andrews and within walking distance to the beach and golf courses. The breakfast was excellent and would certainly stay again. The staff are friendly and the room was spotless. Our friends also stayed and had a great time with plenty of bars and eating places to choose from

Stayed at the hotel in January 2013 where after an initial mix up over the room we thought we had booked we were given quite a decent room on the 1st floor. We did find this room could be a bit noisy from the bar underneath which is why we had booked a 2nd floor room. Generally found the room... More

I would highly recommend The West Port .. Staff all very friendly , even when busy in the bar. Which is a great place that lots of people like to meet up with friends for the evening , or take the family. We had a super room, No.3, , beds were brilliant, as was the bedding, a great bathroom ,... More

It was very cold outside but in here we were warm and happy. The room and en-suite were large and well fitted. The standard of fittings throughout is exceptional for a relatively cheap hotel. Most everything in St. Andrews is exceptionally expensive. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Cleanliness is obviously a top priority. The food is good and... More

We booked a room for one night through laterooms, very very reasonable price of £39.50 for 2 people. Room was a good size, clean and well presented. There's a great choice for breakfast, which is served in the main bar area. Good place to use as a base for visiting the town.

Been visiting The West Port since 1998 when we first went to St Andrews to university. The West Port seemed to change ownership/management/decor almost annually between 2002 and 2011! However, the varying styles of menus and design have always included wonderful food. It's quite expensive now but I think it does still give value for money. Location is great and... More

We came here for a family meal and were impressed with the food. We had a range of dishes including thai curry, fish and chips, chicken and bacon pancakes and the venison burger. We all enjoyed the dishes except for my partner who found the burger a bit soggy. the staff were not overly friendly but everything was served in... More

Dissapointed with our sunday lunch here. The meat in the steak pie was fatty, couldnt eat the majority of it. Ordered side dishes , that didnt arrive until mains were finished..Chicken ceaser salad was mediocre... Had a chessecake for desert which was delicious, but served with a dirty napkin, waitress noticed it and turned it over on the table ,... More

We checked in around teatime so the bar was already quite busy with folk who'd obviously just finished work. Cheerful and friendly staff showed us to room number 1 which is directly above the main bar area so you do get quite a bit of noise from downstairs, especially later at night. Spacious room well laid out with a separate... More
