firstly the hotel is in the centre of everything and 5 mins walk takes you everywhere including 1st tee on old course. The room was spotless and was en suite,tv and tea coffee.Hazel was friendly and helpful. We had a 7.20 tee time so didn't have breakfast but this was offset by the really good price hazel charged for room only. Hazel is always very welcoming, the rooms are spotless and the breakfasts wonderful. we wouldn't like to stay anywhere else. The location both of the house and the flat are central and just around the corner from a free carpark, which for most places is a big bonus. There are plenty of places to eat nearby and even when No... More

Our group of 8 just returned from a golf trip of a lifetime in St. Andrews. Although we arrived early, our hosts met us curbside and assisted with bags. Our hosts, Hazel and Laurie Crane, could not have been more gracious throughout our stay. They went out of their way to recommend restaurants, pubs and other local attractions and made... More

My wife and I just returned from our 6th trip to Scotland, 3rd to St Andrews. We booked all the golf, hotels, etc well in advance as its not around the corner from America. When booking in March, Hazel wasnt sure if she'd be open the night we were coming. After SHE decided she'd be here, she confirmed our reservation... More

Hazel had indicated to this person that she might be away on Family matters, however things changed and she took the booking, unfortunately the family matters arose again, Hazel had to shut her business down to attend to them, not forgetting all this was at great cost to herself Alternative suitable accommodation was arranged for the bookings we had, apart... When we arrived in St Andrews on May 31, 2012, we were greated by the owner, Hazel Crane. She couldn't have been nicer and more accommodating. She gave us the best room in the house on the 3rd floor with large corner bay windows overlooking the street. There was a little table with two chairs which was delightful for afternoon... More

The proprietor greeted us on arrival, showing us up the stairs and onto the landing where the pictures on the walls reminded us that St Andrews has always been the home of Golf. The leaflets and brochures on the landing had enough information on the area and local must sees to last us a month. Our double room was very comfortable and... More

We stayed in the stand-alone apartment at 138 North Street. It was beautiful. Perfect for 4 individuals, two couples, or a family. We had two bedrooms, a great living room, and a kitchen nicer than some of us had at home. Hazel stocks the kitchen with ample provisions, and also invited us to breakfast at Burness House, which was terrific.... More

Burness House in St Andrews was a massive disappointment. The hostess was not all that welcoming, and the house was in a state when I arrived, she seemed flustered and bothered by me. I got the 'best' room she said, but everything was old, riggety and the bathroom was absolutely tiny. The TV was again just so tiny and in... More

Burness House doesn't have any single rooms, so the person in question would have realised that they were occupying a double room, clearly written on our websites and in our emails, the price is and always has been less than it would be for double occupancy, why did this person not seek out an establishment with single rooms and appropriate... We stayed at 138 North Street, which is a self-catering apartment across of the Burness House, same owner. We stayed there because we had our five year old grandson with us; four adults and one child. The apartment was perfect and the owner definitely made the place inviting for all of us. There were two bedrooms with ensuite and a... More

We booked to stay three nights and ended up staying nine nights at burness house. Our room was excellent with a small table and chairs to relax in. Hazel was a terrific host and made us feel very welcome. Breakfasts were delicious and service was top notch. We had planned to travel further afield, but just found it so comfortable... More
