I stayed for one night in the Kirklee hotel (on a business trip) and the stay was a blissful experience. It was quiet, comfortable and the staff were extremely helpful on all matters (helping me to get to my destinations by the best routes etc). A welcoming, comfortable hotel where they serve breakfast in your room. I had a lively scrambled egg with smoked salmon. Convenient for Byres Rd and the University. Very helpful staff, quiet and relaxing environment.

Nice setting; fine breakfast; elegant lounge, but rooms very much in need of renovation--bureau drawers falling apart, creaking bed springs, peeling paint on bathtub, minimally functional television. Staff remarkably taciturn. Everything adequate, nothing pleasurable. We were happy to leave.

The Kirklee is an marvellous place to stay: very (family) friendly, helpful, cultivated in style and architecture, large rooms, good bathrooms, situated in a calm drive (sleep with open windows), and in walking distance of the trendy West End. The Gadola/Dietziker family, Zurich/Switzerland.
