Turned up for Mothers Day to find meal was disappointing. Vegetables were especially unappetising. Meat was ok. Desserts limited choice. Again lacked inspiration.Service was slow but efficient. Good choice of drinks. Restaurant in good position with plenty of parking in its own grounds and in the Market Square. Pub restaurant is comfortable, although heating could have done with being higher.

Visited here after a recommendation from friends and I was not disappointed! Have no comment on the rooms, but the food is at an extremely high standard for what you expect as 'pub food'.. This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long time. The pub downstairs is traditional in a lovely town. The hotel itself was clean with modern large rooms. It was a little noisey downstairs, but nothing to disturb a good nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely with the full English using high quality products.

Visited the Saracens Head, for lunch, recently and was less than impressed. The menu is pretty basic and uninspiring; I was hoping to find a chilli or curry, instead it was baguettes, jacket potatoes, quiche, etc., all fairly bland and boring. Went for a Valentine's Day meal with friends and my wife. The 'beef wellington' was absolutely disgusting. It would have tasted better if it was made with 'Shergar' but unfortunately it was made with his 'saddle'. Only a very small discount was offered as compensation and this place should be avoided at all costs.

Staff friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, it took 3 attempts to find a suitable room. Eventually, I got rm 1, which was very nice, except it was above the door to the patio, which slammed closed every time it was used, so couldn't sleep til after midnight.
